Did you view him as dead or just knocked out?

When Cruise whips up on Devasher's character, to you did that scene represent his death or just that he is knocked out and will have some bruised/broken ribs. His fate is never clearly stated. To me, a couple of kicks and being hit with a satchel full of papers didn't seem fatal. How did the rest of you take that scene regarding his fate?

No way, Mitch just thoroughly kicked his ass. He likely survived to face jail time for murder and other serious crimes. The Oatmeal Man dies in prison.
