hated it

not sure if it was Bridges annoying acting and voice or what but i thought this movie was bilge also his character was creepy and i was only hoping in the end that he did finally die. i just wanted it to be over

the crash scene at the end was good however

reply

you could have just stopped watching if you hated it so much.

You saw Dingleberries?

reply

Yeah, if you really hate something why watch it? I love the people who say, "that's an hour and a half I'll never get back". Just stop watching!?!?!

reply

that's what i did. while i watch my share of bad movies, i cannot remember the last time i hated a movie this much. and i like jeff bridges

reply

I just stopped after 22 minutes. Klein is indeed annoying.

Sounds like you came into the movie hating Jeff Bridges prior. If a movie has an actor in it who is so "annoying" to you, both in performance and voice (LOL...hate to think what you've thought of past relationship partners in your life ), then why'd you bother watching in the first place? And if his acting & voice grated on your nerves so much, why'd you bother sitting through the entire movie anyway?

And perhaps the most obvious question is, why, then, after going through such an apparently miserable experience, did you feel the need to discuss it further, by coming to the message board for it and letting a bunch of complete strangers know that you hated it? Because personally, I don't give a crap what you think. I come to these message boards to discuss movies I liked with other fans, not engage with haters & trolls like you, but I just felt like doing something different for once, and asking you kinds of posters why you feel the need to discuss something you hate so badly? When I hate something, the last thing I want to do is continue thinking/talking about it!

Anyway, I find your post creepy, and your comments & attitude bilge...I wish all you trolls would just die already. We're all entitled to our opinions, right?

Wise words ! I think I'll copy/paste these words wherever I find this kind of posts.

I see nothing wrong with hearing from others who had a different view of the movie including those who didn't like it or find it entertaining.
I really like this movie. I do understand the persona of Max being kind of off (reminds me of his character in "The Vanishing"). Max's weirdness and darkness brought a lot of conflict with him and his family, leaving the viewer to figure out who was really in the wrong.

Well, OK, but I think the point is that if you're going to pan the film, you ought to do so with something more than "I don't know why I hated it, but let me detail the intensity of the hatred as a merely expressive exercise for myself." What's the worth in a post like that?

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with someone expressing their opinion with the intention of understand things (and themselves) better. I don't have a problem with people discussing what they didn't like about a movie. It's the ones who just say "this movie sucked" or "I hate this movie" and not expounding on it. Comments like that really are worthless. If you're going to whine, at least make some good points for your side of the debate.

** maybe mini-spoilers **

I understand the character went through one awful/amazing experience and was conflicted; however, I didn't like him very much in the film.

He came off cold, aloof, and selfish.

If only he could have reassured his own wife and child the way he did the folks on the plane.

I realize that the character will probably be redeemed after what happens at the end, but the ending scenes were rather brief and by that time I already didn't like the character.

I found it an interesting movie overall although some parts of it were fairly predictable.

If ^ was directed at me: I still stand by my statements.

His 'being in a state of grace' or whatever is not sufficient rationale as to why he was warm with some folks and cold with others, IMHO.

I'm with you. Just saw it last night for the first time and thought it was pretty atrocious. I didn't hate Bridges' acting, but I hated his character - why make the protagonist such a jackass? He just kept doing one stupid thing after another and kept making people feel worse.

Ten minutes before the film (thankfully) ended I said to my wife, "It this film doesn't end soon I'm going to start to hate other Jeff Bridges movies just on principle!" (Obviously just a joke.)

So ignore the people who responded who act like you don't have a right to say you disliked the film or watched until the end - I did because I kept hoping it would get better. I was sorely disappointed.

"There`s a spiritual element to it/-/ he saves everyone, he`s like god, or Jesus".

So THIS theme - or at least that Bridges thinks of himself that way - about as front and center as they come, is the "deep" wisdom you`re so smugly laying claim to, and that most folks allegedly don`t "get"? Should really tone down your act a bit; the proverbial bicycle was already invented before you got here.

Oh. It`s "just the story". I see.

Don`t you think you should get your own sh-t straight before engaging in any further ridiculously self aggrandizing rhetoric? You sound like a sailor with a bad butt rash; I mean the things you`ve been saying... they`re bizarre.
