Confiscating the sharps before the crash

Is confiscating sharp and breakable objects, high-heeled shoes, etc. a standard part of the protocol right before a crash? I'd never heard of this before. Clearly I've never experienced this situation, so I'm wondering...

That's a standard procedure. As an Airbus operations note states, "High-heeled shoes and sharp objects must ... be removed, because these objects can cause damage to the slide during an evacuation." Interesting. So, it's done to assist with evacuation, not because these objects could become projectiles. Thanks!

reply

Yeah, I was wondering why this was done as well. Thanks for telling us!

reply

Yep; me, too!

But like seriously, who is traveling in airplanes with high heeled shoes? OK, maybe Naomi Campbell, but who else?

reply

i love all the heels being gouped together, imagine being sat opposite that door in the crash!

reply

imagine you survive the crash and find one of the heels stuck up your Ar$e. The other survivors notice that and everyone starts to laugh.
