The 'This is Spinal Tap' of rap, sort of?

No disrespect to the creative folks ( especially the director) who made this film meant by the header, because 'This is Spinal Tap' is one of my favorite comedies. I hope Rusty Cundieff does some more comedy directing/acting, because he seems talented.
This is a very funny movie!

I agree, this is one of the funniest movies ever! Its too bad its not known very well.

reply

no, it's better that it's not known very well because that means it's more special to all of it's fans. it's one of those films that is a hidden treasure. if everyone knew about then it wouldn't be as special to it's fans because then you wouldn't seem cool for knowing about it and loving it and then it wouldn't be as cool because the mainstream sucks and is a copier of everything popular and makes nothing but generic shi!.

yep spinal tap of rap

but it has its funny moments

Actually, it's a scene-for-scene remake of Spinal Tap. Which is fine. It's the jokes that matter, and the ones here are nearly as funny as those in Spinal Tap.

Psycho scared a nation off of taking showers, which inadvertently created the hippie.

you're wrong. why would they make a scene fro scene remake of any movie? no, it just has similar scenes and things happening in it to this is spinal tap. it's not a ripoff of this is spinal tap. it's it's own film and is original because of this. I've never thought this is a ripoff of this is spinal tap which I would think if it was a scene for scene remake of this is spinal tap. and also, why would anyone make a scene for scene remake of any movie? I know they did it with psycho but how did that turn out?

That's how I describe it when I'm giving someone a quick pitch.

to be fair, every Christopher Guest movie he's ever made since Spinal Tap is a copy of Spinal Tap... Granted, he wrote Spinal Tap, but he didn't direct it.... so does that give him permission to copy the style, even though he only wrote it?

Who knows what form the mockumentary genre would've taken had Rob Reiner not put it all down into a coherent vision.

The Fear of of a Black Hat Guys are simply continuing on the mockumentary genre. Its an art-form.... You can't really say anybody owns it anymore.... Its out there... It would be like saying the Foo Fighters are copying Led Zeppelin because it hard rock. You can't say that.

I really liked Spinal Tap, but honestly, I think this is much more funny.

you might be right, it's been so long since I last watched this is spinal tap, so I don't know if this is a better film. you know I remember thinking that this is spinal tap was really good and really funny but not quite as funny as I expected it to be and not quite as good as i thought it would be.

and the first time I watched this film I thought it was laugh out loud, on the ground laughing, unbelievably funny from start to finish, the whole film. so, you might be right, it might be better than the is spinal tap. it would be interesting to see how good that this is spinal tap is the second time around. and keep in mind I had the highest of expectations right before I watched fear of a black hat for the first time.

there is nothing wrong with calling it the rap this is spinal tap, so don't feel bad for calling it that. it's utterly brilliant. it's almost as good as this is spinal tap. there has never been nor will there ever be a movie about a rap band or rapper that is a comedy that is as good as this film. CB4? no!!!
