A lot of things in the movie were just copied from the Naked Gun movies. :(

For the first time in years I watched the Naked Gun and Fatal Instinct a few nights ago. My wife and I did a double feature. When you watch the like that, it's pretty clear to my eyes that the Naked Gun is much better.

But aside from being the same type of spoof with the same general approach, Fatal Instinct doesn't copy any of Naked Gun's gags. It stakes out its own territory in the same genre.

They're both in the tradition of Airplane!, etc., which was in the tradition of Jerry Lewis, etc. What that fact has to do with the idea of ripping off actual gags is nothing.
