Sheila at Whammyburger

Sheila is the girl at Whammyburger, the one that initially tells Michael Douglas that breakfast time is over. She is played by Michelle Pfeiffer's sister, Dedee Pfeiffer.

Well, I like Sheila. Not only she is terribly cute, but the faces she makes in that scene, and her wacky attitude makes me giggle.

Is she flirting with Bill? Is she thrilled because something exciting is happening there? Does she symphatize with Bill's complaints? Notice how when Bill tells everybody how the burger they gave him is so puny compared to the burger in the picture, and then asks what is wrong with that burger, she almost is nodding and smiles all the time.

A small character, but I think a very funny one... did I mention terribly cute?

Overall, a really good scene.

Yeah, I like that character.

She had the hots for him. Don't know why he was bothering going after his bit** of an ex-wife when Sheila was right there :)

No, she was clearly giving him patronizing smiles. The way she speaks to him is superficially polite, but dismissive. Basically, she's politely telling him to f- off. Similar to how southern women will say something like "bless your little heart" in a sugary sweet way, when their meaning is the exact opposite. But sadly, some clueless guy will interpret that as flirtation and think "she had the hots for him".

reply

It depends as I understood it she was not really happy at the job and didn't give much sh** about it, so she didn't have problem to agree with customer when he is right, especially if customer shows her respect by calling her by surname.

About 70 percent humoring him and 30 flirting only because my impression is she flirts in part to flatter herself (draw compliments) and pass the time.

reminds me of 2 great [ie non Hollywood style] roles by Zooy in Almost Famous and The Happening

and recent ads for Subway where gal says "Cookie" at end but it is probably a local Australian ad as her accent is Oz

The face she makes when Rick says "You have to order something from the lunch menu" is priceless.

Also was one of George's girlfriends in Seinfeld. And she was in Playboy.

reply

Coincidentally, the guy who played Rick the WhammyBurger manager was also in an episode of Seinfeld. He was Lou, the "sidler".

reply

I like to give her my whammy burger into shelia!

Spoiler alert for them spoil sports out there! Y'all like spoiled milk, stop crying over it!

reply

If only D-fens had told her, "My name is Bill. I'm unemployed and I live with my parents."

reply

She was SMOKING HOT back in the '90's.

reply

her reaction is quite noticeable as well when D-Fens changes his mind and opts for the lunch menu after all

reply

She is ridiculing him. She thinks he is a nerd. You also sense she does not like her boss. At one point when her boss says something to D-Fens she turns from him to D-Fens like a tennis spectator eager to see what volley D-Fens will serve in reply. She sees D-Fens as some sort of light entertainment livening up a boring day serving burgers. She stays cool when D-Fens pulls the gun out while her boss and another worker there nearly have heart attacks. After all, D-Fens is a nutcase with a submachine-gun by that time, no longer an amusing nerd. She is an interesting minor character but I don't think she is flirting with him.
I would say Pfeiffer stole that scene from Douglas, and it is a pity she does not seem to have had more of a career.

Thought she pretty much ruined the movie. Overacted and appeared drunk. No wonder she is actually working at a fast food place today. Meh.
