Anyone else wish to see a remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal?

If you have seen the movie Nightcrawler, you will know that Jake Gyllenhaal can do a great job if this movie is to have a remake.

Now I understand that it's not the kind of movies that Hollywood studios like to have remakes for, but the idea popped in my mind and I just wanted to share this thought..

What do you think guys?

P.S By the way, Wonderful performance by Michael Douglas and the forever genius Robert Duvall..

reply

NO!

Another Movie is Not needed. A sequel would have been too much.

A remake? Maybe. But I can't see Gyllenhaal in the part. It's a shame Robin Williams is no longer with us. I could've seen him in the part. Michael Douglas' character died in the end. It was a shame. His character was like Travis Bickle, but Bickle survived in the end and amusingly he was hailed as a hero. Everyone he had run-ins with in Falling Down always seemed to have it coming.

P.S. If this movie ever was remade, I would make some changes. One of them would be the title.

F* No!
As Much as I like Gyllenhaal. This movie is a classic and should be left as it is.

reply

yes but only if Jake wears the bubble boy suit from Bubble Boy through out the entire film. Only way i'd go for it.

The only acceptable remake of this movie would eliminate the Duvall character and allow the Douglas character to be the hero (really, aren't you tired of the hamburger you pay money for looking NOTHING like the advertised hamburger?).

reply

If they portray the main character fairly this time.

reply

No, Falling Down with Douglas and Duvall is a very good movie, it would be very difficult to top these perfomances in a remake..

reply

Sure. Why not? I like Jake just fine. Hopefully they would make the movie a lot different from the first.

Why different from the first?

I don't think anyone wants to see the same movie with different actors. Seems like what usually happens is they use the title and tweak the formula a bit. True Grit might be an exception. Seems like they followed the original pretty closely. Not sure about The Manchurian Candidate, but it seemed quite a bit different. How about A Star Is Born? I think they made a lot of changes regarding what the actors were famous for and the styles of music.
I haven't seen Falling Down in forever, but it just seems like they might make it a little darker and have Jake have a little different kind of a psyche.
