Town in Iowa

In what town is this supposed to take place? It's obviously supposed to be Iowa, with references to Webster City and Ames. I missed the first ten minutes. And even though the listing says it was filmed in California, I'd swear it's filmed in Iowa. I'm watching it right now, and am about 45 minutes in.

If we all liked the same movie, there'd only be one movie!

Haven't seen this movie in a long time, but I do remember seeing an Iowa State Cyclones sticker on a gumball machine in the movie. I will watch it again. Ewww @ Webster City.
