The guy who tagged along

Was anyone else as digusted with that black guy as I was?

What problem did you have with him, exactly? He was kind to the girls, he tried to keep them out of danger, and he provided a lot of comedy.

In real life his actions would be a little distressing for an adult (helping them with their mission instead of turning them in to the authorities, wanting the moonstone, etc.), but overall he was harmless and it was just a movie!

The fact that he was greedy and was actually thinking of stealing it from the girls. annd I don't something about his character made it really gahh for me.

That black guy's name is Meshach Taylor, and his character's name is Mr. N.
I am watching the movie with my kids right now, and admittedly I am a little creeped out that he just decided to tag along rather than alert the proper athorities about these little girls wandering alone. However, it is just a movie, and I suspect it wouldn't have much of a plot if he'd called the police and the girls were sent right back home. Know what I mean?

I think it would have made more sense if he were younger perhaps some teenager, ya know?

I agree that in real life, his actions may have been questionable, and if this movie was made today, some parents may have been in an uproar over it. But it was filmed almost 20 years ago, and put simply, it's a movie. Through the eyes of two innocent kids, Mr. N was supposed to be portrayed as a selfish, money-hungry guy who learned that loyal friendships were the real "riches of a lifetime", as he said at the end of the movie. After all, isn't that how we would all like things to turn out? It's not supposed to mirror reality so much as it's intended to be a kids' film that entertains you.

Besides, Mary-Kate and Ashley's movies were always thin on the plots and heavy on the fluff. The girls were so adorable and so famous from Full House, these little movies were basically a vehicle that was used to get them on-screen together and attract audiences who loved them on that show.
