I saw the film *spoilers*

I finished just seeing Doppleganger. I really can't say this was that bad of a film. For one it kept my interest, which is really alot to say about a film concerning me. Since I think I have a bit of the ADD.

I think the gore at the end was overdone, but you rarely see overdone obnoxious crazy gore in horror films these days, seeing as how strict the MPAA has become. However where the one demon version of Drew Berrymore's character kisses the other one, was like..the writers got really drunk and thought it up at the last minute. I mean, to find that even remotely erotic, you have to be pretty high, drunk, or whatever.

I think the ending of the film was pretty straightfoward symbolism. I think Drew's dad in the film was completely nuts. Although through most of the film, I thought I'd find out that Drew's dad was Satan. Well he's pretty close to Satan. The whole weird abuse thing where he tries to strangle Drew with the belt was just weird.

So the storyline did leave alot of questions unanswered, but heck, what would you expect of a movie that at the last minute brings out the obnoxious Hellraiserian gore. Those movies tend to not have the most intelligent of plots.

Yah you're right.. It's just that the ending of the film is very confusing.. but I might say that Drew is very attractive. When I first saw it, it was very confusing and I want to see it once more...

I agree with both of you. The movie did, in fact, hold my interest, but about the last twenty minutes brought the movie down considerably. Throughout the movie, you're trying to discover whether or not Holly Gooding (Drew Barrymore's character) actually has a doppleganger or whether she is suffering from a peculiar split personality disorder. However, the writers and directors go a little too over the top when Holly becomes two separate alien beings. All I can remember thinking was, "Great. Now the badly done, horribly fake-looking aliens are going to duke it out." Then, to put the cherry on the top of the sundae, Patrick acted like nothing had happened and simply called out her name. Personally, I would have run like there was no tomorrow if I had experienced something that abnormal.
Overall, the movie entertained me but I can't help thinking it was originally intended for television.

I remember she becomes two freaky looking beings! Did she put herself together again?

I think so.

Hey Ripley, don't worry. Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect you. Aliens

I didn't see most of the film - just a couple of stabbings as I had it on as background noise while working and only looked up when people were screaming...

I also caught the ending... damn hilarious. It was like videodrome or dreamscape or something. The effects were fairly appropriate for the time this came out - kinda crappy like hellraiser or nightmare on elm. The ending was totally bizarre and I wish I could find it on youtube.

I love Drew Barrymore but the ending of this movie did truly suck. I don't know why people can't read a script and honestly say "this doesn't make sense and is stupid" so they don't ruin what could have been a mildly entertaining movie.
