worst movie ever?

I can definitely say this is one of the worst films I've ever seen. Anyone else have an opinion about it?

I actually think it is awesome. What makes it so great is Nick Cage acting as an eccentric madman. He is totally over the top in this movie and doesn't apologise for it. Every scene he is on is pure hilarity. In fact, I am not the only one who thinks so. It has reached cult status as well as a song by Snot which is totally kick ass! I loved this movie and I watch it about every other week.

Yes, I thought Hercules with arnie was the worst but it was funny, Deadfall is not even funny bad, it was serious, mind you Sarah Trigger as Diane was nice. Has to be the worst movie it looked like a load of auditioning actors doing their parts in a garage.

how Nicholas Cages career continued after this movie is a testament to the power of nepotism.

A bad movie, with obviously a few (tiny cult) fans out there. One reference, by marcus, to nepotism is very significant. I would create a list of films that only exist due to nepotism, or more appropriately CRONYISM. It is quite possible for buddies within the industry to get together and make a decent film. But the tendency, dating back to the Rat Pack movies of the '60s (notably OCEAN'S 11, but others with Lawford, Joey Bishop, Sammy Davis Jr., etc.) and recently imitated by George Clooney and his buddies.

So this film falls into that group. The most typical CRONYISM films are those of Adam Rifkin -he has actors like Cage, Charlie Sheen, Sean Penn, Judd Nelson and other guys he palled around with, in his movies. Many of his are "cult" favorites too, but the sin is basically the horsing around, pros behaving like amateurs atmosphere that these films engender. Possibly Emilio Estevez (most of his films round up his relatives or buddies into all-star casts, unrelated to the material). Henry Jaglom is a past master at this nonsense. My point is this: if you're making a film and have that basic starting point, a good screenplay, just go out and hire appropriate actors and actresses to maximize the roles. DON'T just get your drinking buddies together and say "let's put on a show!" I would cite Woody Allen as using the OPPOSITE approach: he works hard on his annual screenplay and then gets the absolute best actors on the planet to work for him, some of them repeaters and others brand-new to his troupe. It doesn't always result in a masterpiece, but Woody gets an A for effort.

I've seen A LOT of movies and I consider DEADFALL to be the worst movie I've ever seen.

Where can one start? Nicolas Cage's hysterical performance as 'Eddie,' the crazy gangster with the lame card trick? The preposterous plot that seems like a rip-off of a million other movies? The sex scene that isn't sexy at all? The presence of Micky Dolenz? The incredibly boring and uninteresting 45 minutes after 'Eddie' dies?

All that said, I've seen it about 20 times. Each time, I'm astounded all over again. VIVA LA *beep* FRANCE, MAN!!!!

I wholeheartedly agree...THE WORST MOVIE EVER.

Eddie (Nicholas Cage) is a really dumb 2 bit crook and punk. Cage's portrayal of him certainly was over the top. He played him as very stupid but it came off as badly acted rather than an actual stupid punk who likes to act tough. There are punks who put on a tough act and they look like bad actors. Maybe that is what he was going for? I tend to think that because Cage is usually much better than this.

But I don't think this is a bad film, not great but not bad.

This movie was so bad so so so bad, please arrest the filmmakers and the actors somebody

I've seen much worse movies than this. I happened to see most of it on TV late one night a couple of weeks ago, and decided to watch because I like Michael Biehn. It wasn't a very good movie, but it certainly wasn't the worst. The Brotherhood 3, now that's a bad movie. So is Catwoman.

reply

It didn't really find it that bad. maybe i was pleasently surprised because of the really low score on this site. Biehn, Coburn, Trigger and Sheen were good.
Cage was crazy but it didn't bother me as much as everyone else apparently.
7/10

I always thought that troll 2 was the worst I've ever seen but this comes pretty close.

I personally haven't regarded this movie as serious since I was 10 years old. For me it's just a campy B-movie and that's why it's great fun! One of the most amusing films I've ever seen, as a matter of fact.

reply

Not the worst but it sure did try. It's an exercise in how not to make (or how to systematically ruin) a good crime/mystery film.

reply

It's not.
