how many main characters were there in this movie

I couldn't keep track of all of them.

pink and mitch were the main characters

I thought this movie had more main characters instead of just pink and mitch.

You're confusing "main" with "supporting". Pink and Mitch are the MAIN protagonists, but many other characters have their own subplots.

reply

I am meaning main and supporting not minor characters.

reply

Well, in that case, there were a ton. Pretty much the entire cast. The only ones I'd call minor rather than supporting are Michelle, Clint, Kaye, and a few of those other people that are used for maybe one or two scenes and then get the background treatment afterward. The great thing about this movie is pretty much everybody is included to a satisfactory degree. So if you want to know how many there are just look at the cast. Eliminate about five of them or so and you have all of the main and supporting characters.

you call Shavonne a minor character?

reply

Probably. She doesn't really have her own subplot. There's a difference between Shavonne and say...Cynthia, or Jodi. Shavonne has a good number of appearances onscreen and offers some dialogue, particularly with Dawson, but in the end she's just sort of "there". Of course, this does not mean she doesn't bring anything to the table. I consider all the characters of this movie equally important, as they all help present a sense of realism, given that they all have their own specific subtle diversities and mannerisms. It's really quite genius, and may have been accidental, but it's what I love most about the movie.

Yes, Pink and Mitch were basically both protagonists. Each of them had a story arc: something happened to them which made them different at the end of the story than they were at the beginning. I don't think anyone else was really a main character. The rest of characters were generally just there. The possible exception would be the Freshman girl (Sabrina), but her part was fairly small.
