Director Leif Jonker here - BARREL dvd is UNCUT with MORE GORE than VHS!

The guy below has no idea whatsoever what he is talking about. For one the BARREL dvd is a newly remastered, newly created, much tighter DIRECTOR'S CUT. Yes it is 2 minutes shorter (not 6 minutes) than the 86 minute VHS version, however, it has 5 MORE scenes than the VHS version and far more blood and gore. It is simply a much tigher edit that moves much, much faster.

Plus, for those who want it, the 2-Disc set also contains that slower, far cruder looking 86 minute original version that is contained on the VHS release. This is taken directly from the original, first generation 1" videotape DUB master -- so even though it's still rough, it looks FAR superior to any and all VHS or DVD video releases prior to BARREL's release of THE VAMPIRE VERSION. (Yes the VHS release might be found cheaper now because it is completely obsolete and is being dumped by everyone who owns it.)

Then there is the wealth of supplemental materials on the 2-Disc set. When all is said and done, with both versions of the films and all the supplemental materials, all together there is over 6.5 hours of video and over 9.5 hours of additional alternate audio and/or commentary tracks for a total possible viewing time of over 16 hours!

This new 2-Disc DVD release from BARREL ENTERTAINMENT titled DARKNESS: THE VAMPIRE VERSION was just reviewed in the October 2006 issue of FANGORIA MAGAZINE where it was deemed the DVD OF THE MONTH and awarded 4 STARS! It has also received the HIGHEST RATING/RECOMMENDATION from ARROW IN THE HEAD, CULT CUTS, REAL CULT and others, and was called "THE CULT DVD RELEASE OF THE YEAR." by 10 THOUSAND BULLETS. This is by far the best release of this film to date. If you're going to check it out, accept no substitutes.

I caught this movie on the advice of some friends and was quite impressed. I was pissed that I bought the one-disc when I realized there was a two-disc limited edition but luckily, I sold that one and picked up the 2-Disc.

Picked up the single DVD edition at Best Buy the other day and some friends came over last night and we watched the movie and the special features. It was a LOT of fun. Thanks!

This is a great movie and great 2 DVD set that i recommend to everyone. Leif, any news on VAMPIRE FEROX?????? I would love that. and Demon Machine.

i bought the film this weekend. It was the one disc version, but i didn't care. i watched the film, which i enjoyed very much, and then i watched all the special features and all the commentary. I thought that BARREL did a wonderful job with the dvd.
