Without comparing it to the book, just tell me plain and simple-is this a good movie?

it's good and better than most modern horror movies
Personally it's my favourite Stephen King film, and I collect a lot of them. I've never actually read the book, so I wouldn't be able to comment on it as an adaptation. I think it's very well acted and has some cool scenes, especially the ending (we'll say no more about it!) Definitely worth a watch.

Well, I liked it. And it's fairly faithful to the book, apart from the villain being of a different physical type, if that change bothers you. I mean an awful lot of what's in the book actually makes it onto the screen.
