Out on Blu-ray from Olive Films

Olive Films released a Region A blu-ray of this last fall. It includes both the R-Rated theatrical cut and the Unrated Director's Cut -- though the Director's Cut was already available on the old MGM DVD.

Unfortunately, including both cuts is a cooler idea in theory than in reality as there's very little difference between them: only 27 seconds, basically. See here: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=447620

There are no extras besides a trailer, also. The video/audio quality is definitely up to par, though, especially considering the intentional lo-fi nature of much of the film. Despite the lack of extras it's still an encouraging sign to get this great, underrated film on blu. Now let's hope for more Ferrara upgrades in the near future -- especially New Rose Hotel, 'R Xmas, The Addiction and The Funeral. The latter two don't even have widescreen Region 1 DVDs, and the New Rose Hotel disc is from like 1999 and non-anamorphic. These films deserve better. Mary would be nice also, as it doesn't have a US home video release at all despite seemingly getting a DVD release in five different European countries (they love Ferrara over there).
