Nick wasn't completely innocent in all this

He did let her kiss him, he didn't try and stop her and make it clear he's not interested in her. He also got out of the shower naked with his bathroom door open while she was there. He was clearly spying on her from his window and looking at her body while she was in that bikini sunbathing.

He then snuck into her house, went into her room and pulled a pair of her panties from under her bed with his feet and looked at them. And he was clearly not shying away from looking at her naked when he was in the closet.

He just kept doing things to make her think he was interested in her, she knew he was lusting after her and he was. Then he tried to act all innocent with the cops like she was harassing him since he moved in, well bud maybe cause you did lead her on a bit, he definitely didn't turn her away early on when she kissed him and was teasing him in the bikini.

I'm not saying she was innocent either, i know she was crazy, i'm just saying Nick isn't as innocent as he was trying to act with the cops. He was clearly turned on by her to some extent and loved the fact that she was lusting over him you could tell, when Amy told him she has a crush on him he smiled and his cheeks got all red "haha you're crazy".

He didn't wanna turn Adrienne away early on cause he liked it and didn't want her to stop, up until he realized she had a screw loose and was psychotically obsessed with him then he was ready to ditch her.

I think he was just insecure. He probably didn't have much of a sex life, hence him being single. She was leading him on from the very beginning. He didn't know that, especially that she was good at it considering her previous crush. He really didn't do anything wrong. Still if he told the cops about her asking him to bring her to the lighthouse and kissing him, they probably wouldn't believe him anyway.

Thing is, it's not exactly uncommon for a 14 year old to develop a crush on someone in their 20s and you'll often find the older person involved behaving exactly the same way Nick does (playing up to it a little and then trying to let them down as gently as possible - some never even address it and the younger person loses the crush on their own). Because it IS inherently flattering, to an extent. But there's a difference between finding the attention flattering and actively leading someone on. Nick never led her on, he was just nice to her and it's implied with the interaction with the doctor at the end that that's really all it took for Adrian to develop a crush. It's also worth keeping in mind that Adrian neither looked nor acted like a 14 year old, which would have complicated things even more in the beginning. But as soon as Nick found out just how bad the crush was, he tried to put a firm stop to it. Everything Adrian did after he outright turned her down was the result of her obsessive infatuation and no matter how firmly Nick told her "no" even from the beginning, it wouldn't have changed that. The main point is that as soon as he found out just how bad Adrian's obsession with him was, he tried to stop it.

As for him talking to the cops, they got involved only after she accused him of raping her. Of course he's going to start heavily protesting his innocence at that point: he's an older male being falsely accused of raping an underage girl - an underage girl with a very wealthy and influential family at that. He's hardly going to be all "well I was sort of flattered when my girlfriend told me Adrian had a crush on me and we kissed and I thought she looked cute when I first met her...oh, and I hid in her closet one time and spied on her while she was undressing", is he?

She also had killed her camp counseler when he rejected her advances. The moment he started to rejected her, she committed crimes with no remorse at all and she lied about them. I think it was obvious that she planned to manipulate him from the beginning to make him more vulnerable. She's a pure and natural psychopath.

I think you're portraying it a little worse than it actuallly was. But yeah, he definitely liked the attention he got in the beginning and his response to her avances was not appropriate. After that he made some really stupid decisions that only made things worse. He should've gotten the hell out of there way sooner.
