Adrian or Darian?

I'm confused, the last few times I've watched this movie Alica Silverstone's character was named Adrian, but I could have sworn when I watched it many years ago her name was Darian? I'm I imagining things? Or did they dub over and change her name? Why would they change her name for?

Someone just asked the same thing. It was originally Darian. Director/screenwriter Alan Shapiro apparently wrote the film in reference to something that really happened to him and the girl sued and won because he apparently used her real name in the movie. Any mention of Darian in the movie was redubbed with Adrian as well as the stitching changed on the pillows in her bedroom and initials in the underground shrine. The VHS and laserdisc versions of the film have the original "Darian" spoken parts and references

That's interesting. The real girl didn't go to the extremes that the character did, so it painted a very derogatory picture of the real girl. I saw a "making of" featurette on TV long ago where they said the real girl didn't go as far as the character went. They shouldn't have used her real full name.

I guess no one reads the trivia sections. Lots of useful info to be found there

In editing the film for broadcast TV, the character of Darian's name was changed to Adrian after a lawsuit against Shapiro by the real-life Darian Forrester. The VHS and laserdisc versions of the film still use the original name, but DVD releases and later cable TV airings also change the name to Adrian. The plot of The Crush was based on an actual incident involving the neighbor of writer Shapiro.
