what are you talking about?? Nick (Cary Elwes) was very good looking in that movie!! maybe you should re-watch it!! its not like he's the most gorgeous guy on the planet, but he's good enough!! it's not only the looks that alicia's character falls for.. he's an older guy with looks, but the fact that he's older kinda makes it more... i dunno whats the word im looking for.. more risky i guess.. lol!! if that makes any sense!! lol well i kinda know what its like.. when i was younger i'd always fall for older guys that arent like are cute but the fact that their older makes it even more a turn on?? lol

I just watched this movie again on cable after seeing it in the movies when it first came out! I think another level which she connected with him was intellectually! It stated in the movie she was advanced several, grades! Also throughout the movie you knew she was more intelligent than the average 14 year olds! Although Elwes's character wasn't neccesarily overly intellectual his job/career as a researcher/writer is one that was of intellect! I think this was also a m ain area that fascinated her as well!

I thought that Nick resembled either Brad Pitt, (a younger) Nick Nolte, or Robert Redford and I like the preppy, smart look :) Yes, Darian had a toxic attraction to Nick, not based on true love or care in the end.

I still found Cary Elwes very hot at this point in his career (now not so much, but that's a different story). But I mean, Darian is lonely in many ways and initially Nick pays her attention and that's what she latches onto more than just his hotness. He was nice to her. Just like at the end the Doctor is nice to her.

um cary elwes is insanely hot! him being a dork almost makes him hotter..

but a big part of it was there was an adult who gave her attention and indulged her behavior, at least in the beginning

Car elwes was hot in that part of his career indeed.....He may not be the best but there was a thing he had about him that made him attractive...I just find him charming in a sexy way

I thought he looked really bad in this movie when I saw it as a kid. I just rewatched it and now I think he looks really good. Maybe because I'm the age now that he was supposed to be in the movie and have a greater appreciation for his nerdy but sexy looks.
