To be honest except for this movie, Trains, Planes and Automobiles and Only the Lonely I could really take or leave John Candy movies in general.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!

uncle buck and spaceballs were funny you dident like those? he was funny in stripes and splash too he had a cameo but did good acting in JFK.

I think it's definitely last funny movie considering it was released in October 1993, and Candy passed away in March 1994. I remember reading the John Candy book, and Candy had made a couple of dismal films before this one. Candy apparently felt energized by the success of Cool Running's after a couple of years in mediocrity.

Cool Runnings was a huge hit, but ironically Candy played the supporting straight man to the 4 Jamaicans who got virtually all the laughs. 🐭

Yes, he actually acted in this movie. He had a few wiseguy lines but it was not a movie where he played a character for laughs. He was an actual character in a movie. It is a good movie, very underrated, and a very good performance by him.

He had some great performances when he was the "straight man". Cool Runnings, Only the Lonely, The Great Outdoors, and Rookie of the Year off the top of my head. He still managed to be funny in those roles too.

It's IMO his last great film he's ever done, I wasn't big on Canadian Bacon but did enjoy Wagons East.

I liked Wagons East
