Lol I was watching this movie and when she's in the grochery store she starts screaming at the eggplants and then she picks one up and walks away laughing with it. I couldn't stop laughing because it was both hilarious and confusing. Anyone know why? or is it just supposed to be unknown?

I can tell you this- At the near start of the movie when they are in the motel room and they see a bowling game going on and they scream then like you are saying in the grocery storeshe screams at an eggplant well I have found out that they at first thought the eggplants and bowling pins were thier kind's heads and they thought that us humans would take thier kinds heads and use them for bowling pins or eat thier heads.

Detts2007, she started screaming because it was shaped like a cone. You remember at the beginning of the movie when they(Prymatt and Beldar) both screamed at the bowling ball rolling toward the pins on t.v? Well it was for the same reason, they are both foreign to the planet so alot of things confuse them. They didn't see it as someone bowling or a vegetable, they saw it as something that reminds them of themselves being hurt or sold. Make sence?

I've come up with a term for it: "Delayed comedy" The first time I saw the Coneheads, i thought it was so stupid and retarded (plus I really didn't need to see Dan Aykroyd in that shower scene. You know what i mean...), but I found it absolutely hilarious the second time I saw it.

Everyone on here is saying it was about the shape of the eggplant resembling a conehead.
Honestly, I've always just thought it was a completely random thing. It could have been anything she was screaming/laughing at, but eggplants just look funny anyway, but not as much as pineapples though.
I guess the analogy would be if we were to visit another planet and saw a whole grocery display full of what looked to us like babies' heads or some other similar object...we might scream the same way.

After I saw the movie, I screamed at the eggplants in the supermarket and some people looked at me weird. The other shoppers were completely clueless.... bluntsculls.

She's been on Earth, what 16 years or so, judging by Connie's age. She's bound to have had seen an eggplant many times in a supermarket, why scream that time?
