Why was there no follow-up to the opener?

The opening scene is terrifying. Although Hal and Gabe have it out on the cliff briefly and it is brought up somewhat between Gabe and his girl, why isn't there an all-out scene about discussing why she was up there in the first place between the group?

reply

She was Hal's date. He was trying to impress her with his ability but underestimated her skill. Ergo why they couldn't get her down.

reply

I know that. And that's even more the reason that Hal should've been more to blame than Gabe for her death.

Stallone said Hal ‘talked her into climbing to the top of the tower’ (it was better than sex), but I thought they tied this in with a routine practice rescue. I don’t remember any talk of her being unable to climb down.

You watched a different film. In THIS film, they were unable to get down because Hal had busted up his leg. There was no indication at all that she wasn't able to get down, but a pretty big indication that HE wasn't able to.

reply

Where was the inquest into her death? The press? The police hounding them? Lol

reply

Hal hates him practically the whole movie. Gabe moves away because of the accident. What are you talking about?

reply

There was plenty of ‘processing’ of Sarah’s death. What was bizarre was how Frank’s murder was ignored. You’d think Hal would have mentioned it to Gabe but nah, at the end they’re all cracking jokes and laughing on the mountaintop as if most of their friends haven’t just been murdered in cold blood and they haven’t just been through a traumatic ordeal which blows the Sarah incident out of the water 🤷🏻‍♂️

"The opening scene is terrifying. "

Yeah, terrifying in its STUPIDITY. No multiple layers of security, everyone is trusted to have enough power and ability to PULL THEMSELVES IN, in the flimsiest way possible (because it's never possible for someone that has to be rescued to be completely exhausted or weak), while the helicopter hovers over the '4000 feet of air' instead of over a more secure place, like ground, and it has to be so far away, and and..

I mean, I don't think a 'rescue team' could BE more incompetent if they tried and were drugged out of their minds.
