It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but it definitely wasn't worth watching. It didn't need to be made. To me the entire thing seemed like a demo reel for the director and lead actor to land work. It's a movie we've seen over and over a hundred times, starting with Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer back in the 80's.

For a break out film it's real good. Artistically.

There are only 8-12 plots / stories in the world so yeah you're going to get that 'it's a movie I've seen before'.

Point is if visually and with attention to the sound in this, did it get under your skin? And did the performances create suspension of disbelief?

For a break out film, I'd say yes to both. This film is almost as good a break out effort as Pi.

I thought it was very good, though difficult to watch, especially the fingernail scene.
