likeable

It wasn't a great movie, but I liked it enough to see it all the way through.
There aren't many movies about women of that age, dealing with their joys, hopes and fears. Maybe the Baby Boomer audience will trigger more of them, now they are getting to their 60's.

I'm not Italian, but I thought it was too heavy on the "ignorant, gaudy, flashy" Italian stereotype, to the point of being insulting. If an Italian filmaker did a movie that portrayed Jews in such an extreme stereotype, I think the makers of this movie would be saying it was anti-Semitic, instead of laughing it off as a joke as we're expected to do here. On the other hand, I haven't been to any Italian weddings except in Italy, so maybe it wasn't that ridiculous.

It was interesting to see Catherine Keener in such a young role, and Christina Ricci without her perpetual pout.

I can't fathom that they couldn't find a single JEWISH? actress to play in at least one of the starring roles? Really?

Forget about politically correct -- were no Jewish women in Hollywood even offered a script?

I just saw the movie -- and while the 3 were credible, it could have been better. Yes, stereotyped -- and would have been more palatable had the ethnicity been a little more real.

Jewish Actresses who Could have Done this:

Goldie Hawn
Bette Middler
Bea Arthur
Estelle Getty
Lauren Bacall
Anne Meara (by extension, after all her years married to Jerry Stiller!)

and that's just off the top of my head.
