charlotte gainsbourg

Jeez-Charlotte Gainsburg-gorgeous or what?!Didnt realise she was the daughter of Jane Birkin(of J'Taime fame),but a great actress(good english accent)and has terrific screen presence.Has anybody out there seen her in other movies?

reply

Yes-I just saw her in L'Effronte. See it-she's phenomenal in it. It was her big breakthrough.

reply

She is one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen and a great actress. Loved The Cement Gardan, by the way.

reply

Cement Garden and Memento are the best two films ever made. She was also in 21 Grams as Sean Penn's wife.

reply

She also provided the voice at the beginning of Madonna's song 'What it feels like for a girl'

Random bit of useless information.

I guess your talking about Andrew Robertson who played Jack? Well both Andrew and Charlotte were truly beatiful young people and excellent actor/actress too!

reply

If Charlotte's mother is Jane Birkin, is she then related to Andrew Birkin the films director and his son Ned Birkin who played Tom?

reply

According to this site, Jane is Andrew's sister so Charlotte is his niece and Ned is his son. It's a family affair.

Never new that, now if the packaging was better it might have stated that fact, or if there were some extra's on the disc it might have been mentioned? Still it's a treat to have it on DVD at all, but hopefully once day we'll get a better release with an extra disc filled with all sorts?

reply

Charlotte Gainsburg is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL end of story.

Her mother (Jane Birkin) was even more of a beauty--check out her and Brigitte Bardot in the movie "Don Juan" sometime. Even a mutt like Serg Gainsbourg couldn't uglify those genes. They're all a bunch of damn weirdos though. This was an interesting movie, but it's hard to imagine someone casting their own son and niece in roles like this. And you ought see the music video duet Charlotte did with her father on the DVD "Serg Gainsbourg: 1958-1991" (a catchy little diddy called "Lemon Incest"). They're a very attractive, but very strange family.

She was just in the movie "The Science of sleep" and she was amazingly great. Everyone go see it!!!! and this movie of course...another one of my fav's.

reply

She kinda annoyed me when I first saw her in 21 Grams (probably because of her accent, as opposed to the rest of the cast). But since I've seen La science des reves and The Cement Garden I really learned to admire her. I think she's great in The Cement Garden.

reply

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Jane Eyre yet. Granted, her version is not my favorite of that story, but she gave a surprisingly good performance. Cement Garden was my personal favorite of hers though.

She's disorientingly charismatic. I'm not sure she has the range of Cate Blanchett, but she's has a quiet charisma that is inordinately powerful. I'd watch her read a telephone book, and find that more interesting than 90% of Hollywood actresses.
