Two Major Plot Holes

Did it bother anyone else C's mother was suddenly gone after the 8 year gap?

Also why didn't the show the fate of Sonny's assassin?

reply

Come on..it was obvious what was gonna happen to him after shooting a Mob boss, in his bar in front of everyone.

reply

The mother was insignificant to the plot of the story. It was more about Deniro and C's relationship.

And are you serious? I think it is assumed what happened and besides I don't think that really mattered to the theme of the movie.

The movie shows the crowd subduing the shooter. From there we can assume that they killed him.

Those are not plot holes.

First go learn what a plot hole is before posting on plot holes.

reply

If these (probably even intentional) omissions are plot holes I don't know how you should call real plot holes...

Whatever point in fact we never found out what happened to mom. We don't have enough info to "Assume" anything.
Much as I think she may have left her husband after he give back the money.

They aren't really plot holes.

1. There was no reason for her to be in it in the second half of the film, it'd moved past the relationship with his parents part and into his own development as a young man. Deniro was hardly in it in the second half.

2. It was fairly obvious what would happen to him. But the story is about C, that part has nothing to do with him, so it's left to your imagination like what happened to the guy that threw the petrol bomb that killed the Italian kids and a million other things in movies.

They are not plot holes.

1)C's mother's disapearance is up to the viewer. I take it that she left him because they didn't have a lot of money. You can sense that she was a little tired of struggling financially.

2)As far as Sonny's assassin?...He sleeps with the fishes.

I have answered this question at least ten times.

C's mother IS still there, but she just isn't shown during his teenage years.

Check out the very end of the movie. C and his father leave the funeral home and walk across the street to their apartment building. You can see C's mother leaning out of the window, watching them come.

As for Sonny's assassin, what the hell do you think happened to him? He was beaten to death.

I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.

reply

I've always wondered what happened to the mother, but you make an excellent point. I'll have to watch the movie again to check out that scene at the end. I agree with the other posts that it is definitely not a "plot hole" as she wasn't a crucial part of the story to begin with.

reply

@Charlie Goose. GREAT catch on C's Mom at the end of the movie. I just watched it and you are right.....she is up in the window as C and Lorenzo walk across the street. Before I saw your post and got to the end of the movie, I was looking at Lorenzo's left hand and he did not have a wedding ring on at the end (i.e. the scene in the funeral home). But I didn't notice if he did earlier in the film or not.

reply

Ok....now I am not so sure that is C's Mom in the window of the apartment. In the scenes when C is little, Lorenzo is wearing a wedding ring. He isn't at the end of the movie. Does that mean they are no longer married????
