BRILLIANT

I first saw this when it aired back in '92. The Catholic church wanted it banned from broadcast in Ontario and Quebec where the Mt Cashel oprphanage trials were taking place. Then they fought for, and initially received a BAN on the publication of the BAN. Talk about POWER. If for no other reason than to see the TRUTH about what took place in these orphanages and "residential schools", you should see this movie. While it is a "fictionalized" account, it is, non-the-less a REAL accounting of the kind of sickness and atrocities that took place.

Czerny was *amazing*. This has to be one of the most powerfully disturbing movies I have ever seen.

Well I certainly see catalical's point, and found his/her post to have a point, and some merit - the "moron" (who I'm more convinced is a troll who replies to any unflattering remarks about the Church and posts one-word zingers like "moron") above me seems to need a lesson or two in the meaning of the word "truth".

But great movie. I saw this years and years ago on Canadian television and I still remember its impact.

I know much has been made about the sex scenes that they showed with the children, and how many people were upset that these children did these scenes - but I think it was an important image to show. It literally takes the viewers by the back of the neck and forces them to look at the ugliness, and the true face of sexual abuse. It pulls no punches.

Movies like this are important, because it lifts the curtain of secrecy.
