Worst ending!
I LOVE this movie! but the ending is a big disappointment! She only throw that in to make the movie less controversial! Practically ruined the whole movie!

awful
shareI think that only made the few people who actually liked the movie leave the theater regretting not to have paid attention to the reviews. It was as if Norman Bates had woken up in his bed at the end of Psichosis.
shareThe ending is the only thing that saved it from being the worst movie I've ever seen.
shareIt IS the worst film I have ever seen. Cheers cheers cheers for a bloated pomp fest.

Maybe someone could kidnap me then amputate all my limbs. But I'd wake up at the end and everything would be alright. I really would like to see this again. Last time my mouth was so agape at the overwhelming awfulness a small bird flew in and made a little nest. I say small, it could have been a condor, THAT'S how wide it was.

She goes off on the plane with Victor Laslo and Bogart embraces an alternative lifestyle. Luke blows up the Death Star, and George Bailey finds out life is worth living after all. Keyser Soze discovers he was Tyler Durden all along, and they escape over the border to Switzerland with the nun's help.
The world finally sees Boxing Helena for the pile of trumped up claptrap it really is, and Titfield get to keep the branch line. Huzzah.
That shut you up it seems.
shareI HATE HATE HATE "only-a-dream" endings, it's a crappy cheat and basically negates the entire story - absolute *beep* ending! I actually enjoyed the film though when I saw it a million years ago, but I was young and dumb and would probably hate it today (at 35).
shareOK, none of you seem get this movie. Nick's dream is his subconscience telling him pursuing the relationship with Helena can only end badly. So, him walking out of her room after taking her hand is him doing the right thing.
What I really can't get is what it is about this movie that provokes so many people... I think a lot of movies are bad, but something really has to stand out make you (and so many of you, including some of my friends) say it's the worst you've ever seen...

I'd love to see that movie. :-)
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!
ha ha ha you forgot "that he was really dead all along."

Can't say that I LOVED it, I have seen it a few times, but the ending was necessary to show how truly demented he was... I think it fit.

Just seemed like the traditional tacked on cop-out american ending that test audiences demand after watching anything that's not totally mediocre, when their little brains can't handle something even remotely deep or dark.
Billie Holliday's ruined version of "Gloomy Sunday" springs to mind.

Yeah because anytime anyone anywhere dislikes something, it's because they're jealous?
What exactly am I supposed to be jealous of here? Bad writing?

his/her post had nothing to do with disliking this movie. It had to do with his insecurity when it comes to americans.
shareIt was my post....and it looks like you're the one with the insecurities.
There have been numerous instances of american audiences not being able to handle a tale that doesn't have a happy ending. The song "Gloomy Sunday" got a similar treatment when it was americanised with a Dallas-esque "It was all a dream" ending.
American test audiences usually complain that they don't like unhappy endings.
No point in arguing really.

You wanna live forever?
There you go again, living in your stereotypical bigoted world.
share....and it only took you like 362 days to come up with that.

Not at all. I looked back on this the day I wrote it. My cat was reading along and said, "bigot," so I wrote it out. My cat is very perceptive. However, if it makes you feel really good about yourself keep coming up with grade school like comebacks. It is most enlightening.
shareSeriously? Do they only let you go on the Internet once a year or something?
