Idea came from "The comfort of strangers"?

To me, it was an eroticized and more macabre take on John Fowles' "The Collector," which was adapted into a movie starring Terrence Stamp.

Jennifer lynch wrote the screenplay for Boxing Helena when she was just 19 years old. She based the idea off of her own experience of having club feet as a child and she was also inspired by a statue of the Venus de Mio that a family member had in their home.
