I'll take the 1956 version

That one was suspenseful.

I think this one being set on a military base just doesn't have the same feel.

Agreed that the '56 version was great and adding that in my opinion the '78 version was also fantastic.

I agree that both of those versions were superior, but this wasnt a bad movie either.

I have to agree..
the 56 one may be a bit dated..
but it was the first one I saw... and it was terrifying at the time.
and Kevin McCarthy was fantastic...

I liked the 78 one..
and I loved Meg Tilly's speech.

I like the 56 one the least. Cool and all but I prefer this one, the 78 movie and the Nicole Kidman one.

This version owns the 1956 version in every way. That's not to say that the 1956 version is a bad film, it's just nowhere near as good as is the 1993 version.
