Why the low rating?

"Body Melt" is HILARIOUS! A bizarre and colourful trash masterpiece which our country needs more of. The narrative is disjointed and ridiculous, has pretty much no plot and mostly doesn't make sense but the 90s kitsch atmosphere, the really inventive, gross-out deaths and the craptastic music make this a classic. I mean, a body horror movie starring one of the Daddos, a gun-toting Harold from Neighbours, a placenta-dripping Lisa McCue, the disguised actor son of Bert Newton as an inbred hick and various soap opera actors dying horribly? What more could you want?

Has everyone lost their sense of humour? Or is it because the director isn't a big, cult name? Something tells me if Lynch/Quentin/Cronenberg/John Waters/Peter Jackson/insert-other-director's-name-with-cult following-here were attached to the picture people would love it more.

I wondered that, I was thinking, this was def a 7-8, it's campy but intentionally so and there's so much going on (not surprised since it's made from 4 short stories) that it doesn't drag at all.
