Quentin said this was his favourite Aussie film!

Tarantino's favourite Aussie film is this? Who'd have thought...

reply

Guess he didn't like 'Mad Max'...

But this movie ain't so bad. Some people just don't appreciate a good old gory film.

He probably got the satire on peoples obsession with health and fitness in the nineties.

I think few people both in the message board and the review section really GOT the thing! There's context, there's not just 'good old gore b-film'! There's potential, and its delivered. And this, even if this strange Aussie accent prevented me from understanding 100% of a couple of artist's words. I love it! It is both serious and humourous and you GOT to love this if you have a somewhat weird/twisted sense of humour. Not because Tarantino liked it! This is too much to be praised just as a stupid b-movie gore/horror!

So does that mean QT will do an american version and call it his own?

nice ;)

reply

yeah sure, i get the point ;) - but that doesnt mean that influence and mixture of genres is a bad thing. J.Waters made masterpieces from american trash-genres. And if Tarantino makes slyligh action films inspired by what has been made before, i can't but give him credit for his films. But I have to say he must be the most over-rated director ever!!

John Waters IS the king of trash.
Tarantino isn't all bad, but Kill Bill was a bit boring.

As if Tarantino has great taste in films!? I do like this film, but there are far better Aussie films out there. Off the top of my head 'Bad Boy Bubby' is way better.

reply

Tarantino said that Dark Age was becoming his favourite ever. He simply said that Body Melt was the best film of its kind since Re-Animator and that it was a great film.

reply

Bad Boy Bubby was a little too disturbing for me. I love Body Melt - definitely *my* favourite Australian movie.

Kinda makes you wonder what inspired the "melting genitals" scene (and maybe even the whole plot) of Planet Terror, eh?

He's also said Road Games is another one of his favorites. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out.
