Stefan!!

One thing that bothered me about this movie is the silly way they wrote out Stefan. I quite liked the idea of the warring Vampire brothers and felt that they series took a dive when Stefan was killed off, leaving Michelle, Rebecca and that silly GI Joe guy to fight Radu.

Yes, I totally agree. I propose it had something to do with scheduling conflicts for the actor Michael Watson ( he was doing Bold and the Beautiful at the time). But yea, I completly hated watching what happened, soo cowardly (in the movie) and a horrible way to write out a major character. Then again, the writers for this screenplay and the later ones, weren't the same as the first one so maybe it was also a different mindset to focus on Radu who would sell the Dolls and the merchandise.

yeah, it was imperative to get rid of Stefan(storywise) but the way they did it was plain simple... specially because it was done in a way that prevented new logical apereances in the series(I have not seen 4 and 5, so I might be wrong)

Isn't that sorta stating the obvious; i don't mean to be pedantic but that story wouldn't be the story if it wasn't. If Stefan had been kept then there would have a been a different story. Also, there isn't a part 5 yet; It exists only in script form right now..

There were a few silly elements that creeped into the story after the first movie.

Radu's mother was kinda silly and the Army guy that helps Rebecca is just totally laughable (as is his death at the hands of Mommy).

They should have recast Stefan and kept him in the story imo.

I KNOW I'm almost two years late for this conversation, but I have to say, I agree wholeheartedly! They could have kept up with the warring brothers for a good while, especially with the addition of the sister to the line-up. Two reluctant vampires?! They could have really given Radu fits!

Again, it's just an opinion....and a LATE one, at that!

Take it easy!

Yeah, Stefan's death always bugs me. They could've just got a different actor.

I liked this one about 10 times more than the first Subspecies, so writing that tool Stefan out didn't bother me in the slightest. I thought it was quite amusing that they did it in such an off-hand fashion.

Radu was the better character, theres no dispute, but the first one is the only one that had any substance. The sequels just became self indulgent crap, it became "The Radu Show". He was cool, no doubt, but the sequels completely hung on him and Anders Hoves abilities, which are formidable but not formidable enough to drive 3 sequels.

The warring brothers storyline had so much potential, they should have carried on with it.

The Subspecies were downplayed because Ted hated them. I'm sure he hates the title, too.

But one of the things that bugs me about the sequels is they seemed to revolve aroun Michele and Radu constantly. And his "love" for her. It got tiring fast I think.

The sequels are very disappointing imo. For whatever reason it happened, they messed up by taking out the warring brothers angle. It's fine for them to lose the little demons but they should have shown Radu having some other sorcerer tricks. The mummy character is mostly just a plot device for ordering Radu in and out of the picture. And basically, this whole movie is just the new actress running around being scared the whole time. There's no story in this movie at all. And what's with the casting director? All the actors in these movies look identical. Aside from the cool shadow work and a handful of other interesting effects, this movie has nothing to offer. The new sets and locations wern't that interesting and we've seen the old ones before. And what the hell was that huge magical mansion she just kept showing up at and hanging out in? Was that a metaphor or something?

He said it was the only one that had substance.
Not the only one that had subspecies! haha

Yes, after seeing the first movie and how they made Stefan so heroic and likeable. His death seemed disappointing. My guess is that the actor couldn’t or wouldn’t return, and they didn’t want to recast him, especially as they were recasting the lead actress
