Where I live it's near impossible to get hold of the manga for this so I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me is they know who Pinoko actually is? Is she his daughter or just some random child that poped up one day?
shareHaving just read the 2nd vol of the manga, I can now tell you who Pinoko is. A 19yr patient of BJ's had "parts" of her twin sister inside her body. BJ took these "spare parts" and made a body for them--Pinoko. Technically she is 19yrs old like her twin sister but is not really developed or mature. (In the translated manga I have she speaks with a really really annoying lisp!) She also introduces herself as Dr Black Jack's wife! Eeeeeek!
He never denies this but seems to have a more paternal attitude toward her. He also reminds her several times that she "is not human" which may be why her name is a take off of Pinocchio.
I love the artwork of the OVA and film, but the manga artwork is not as visually appealing. Jack looks a lot like Cyborg 009!! But his cool attitude is the bomb! In one story he wants to operate on a patient at a certain hospital; the chief of staff will not allow him to operate. So he goes to the owner of the hospital and buys the hospital for 200 million yen--CASH! And as the new owner proceeds to save the patient's life. How cool is that??
But I agree, Pinoko is a pain.
