Sailor Moon R... can't mess with the original perfection

Sailor Moon R was my obsession for years. When I was like 7 I'd get up at the frikkin crack of dawn to catch my beloved fantasy every day... So when, years later, I saw it publicized and saw that some videos were a little more attainable, I was happy..until I saw a video of Sailor Moon S. Does anyone else see the shallowness of the S characters and plots? Plus, the background music (some elevator muzac jazz mostly) blows. And the original R series voices were replaced (which never fails to piss me off). Bottom line, I love, adore, and miss Sailor Moon R, and I was jsut wondering if Sailor Moon S bugs anyone else.

*Laughs* The funny thing is, the music that you hold in such low esteem is, for the most part, the original music from the Japanese version. After Cloverway took over for DiC, they stopped making new music (though many song were dubbed into american lyrics, it was to the same tune..."now we know what we must do, before they tear our hearts in two" from the Birthday Blue Episodes and "Let's Fight!" from SuperS are some prime examples) and stuck to the original background music.

I personally never felt that S was shallow...but then again, I most recently have been watching the subbed version. The dub tends to, er, make us dislike characters more.

And yeah, the voice actors suck, but there wasn't much they could do... Terri Hawkes had to leave because she had twins (though when asked if she would ever return to do the role, she said she would love to...too bad we won't ever get Stars dubbed...or maybe that's a good thing).

And the plots are very repetitive in S. It's mostly the same thing over and over again. The only ones that are a bit more interesting are when Usagi (Serena) is targeted, the talismans appear, or, basically, the last few episodes in terms of S. R had a much plot.

Sailor Moon R was definitely my favorite season... Of course, my favorite character is Usagi, and this season definitely revolved around her (even with Chibi-Usa (Rini) in trouble). I know that the first season revolved around her, but R is much more interesting...plus, Usagi and Mamoru (Darien) are together (well, excluding the first part of R and when they break up).

Really? SS\ailor Moon S is one of my favorite Sailor Moon seasons, one of the things I like about is the more darker approach.

S is my favorite season for one simple reason the Outers to me they are much more interesting than the other senshis. Neptune and Uranus are such interesting characters the ep were they meet is one of my favorites in all of the SM series. Plus we learn about Hotaru/Saturn/mistress9 and that storyline was good and it gave the season a new twist after they found the talismans also we see a lot more of Pluto who was introduced in R but we see much more of her I love that character she is mysterious. Thats just my opinion though.

I hated in the later Seasons, starting with S, how in most episodes the inner senshi all started talking in unison, showing up at the same time, and becoming more like a group of reinforcements rather than being treated like individual characters. It really bothered me, since they all had different personalities, which was what I liked about them. Plus, the repetitive plotline got on my nerves too.

As for the Outer Senshi, I thought Uranus and Neptune were really bitchy and unfair to the inner scouts, and treated them like children, despite the fact that the inner senshi had been through so much. I only liked Uranus and Neptune when they were in 'civilian' form, since they were much more easygoing. I've always liked Pluto and Saturn though.

Yeah, the way Neptune and Uranus treated the Inner Soldiers made the two characters seem very nieve. The other Sailor Soldiers had been through much more than they had. They had fought Queen Beryl and gave their lives for Usagi, then came back to help her one last time. That's more than the two of them have ever done.
