I think it was different from brotherly love, based on how extremely jealous Fiore was of Usagi, and how he wanted to keep Mamoru entirely to himself. I think that while Mamoru saw Fiore as a brotherly figure, the way Fiore acted toward Mamoru and was more like a jealous ex-girlfriend.

ok ok I'm not sure if you would call it gay. They aren't both humans. Just because Fiore ( sorry sp? ) took on the form of a male, doesn't mean he is one. I know he's probably meant to be the equivilant to a male human, but, we dunno. He's an alien. The first human he saw was male, thus, his human form was male. We just don't know do we. So again, would it even be considered gay if the other party isn't human or of any gender? ( we dunno if Fiore had any other related brothers or sisters. Fiore could be one of a kind! ) Even if they call him a "he" in the movie. What proof do they have?

I think it was love. But, I don't think it was of a sexual nature. I think that Fiore just didn't want to be alone any more, and that Tuxido Mask was the only being that ever showed him? true friendship. Remember, at the end of the movie, he was touched by Sailor Moons friendship. After all, it was her rose that TM gave Fiore.

( Not that I'm against gay aliens, or gay people at all. It was just a question. )

Alright alright, I don't think he was gay, I think he was jealous because the only thing he ever loved.... now loved something else. It wasn't a sexual attraction.... who's to say Fiore was even really a boy? The only person he had around was a boy... so he took on that shape. I know they call him a guy... but he is an alien. He just wanted to return the love and friendship that he was given. He had never learned love... or how to reciprocate it until the end of the movie. It just shows how naive he was.

i saw the original last nite n what i saw is that he wasnt IN love with him but loved him in a friendship level cuz mamoru was the only friend he had and wanted to get rid of ppl who he believes left Mamoru as a child which goes to Usagi and that he doesnt want Usagi to get in the way of there friendship which is why he hurts more then the other sailor scouts/soldiers

just cuz its sailor moon doesnt always mean everything is lesbian n gay stuff but i see were u r gettin at but when i think about it looks like fiore is gay in the dub but thats just me :)

It's hard to say. He certainly comes across that way, and Usagi seems to think so (notice that in both subbed and dubbed she points out that Mamoru is her boyfriend?). Also, in the subbed, Ami says "Mamoru seems popular with other men," implying that Mamoru is perhaps gay or bisexual - reinforced by the conversation that follows while Usagi daydreams.

On the other hand, keep Fiore's story in mind. He doesn't know where he's from or when he was born (which raises the question of how he knows his name is Fiore, but we'll just ignore that relatively minor plothole). The thing that makes him angriest is that he's always been alone - an outcast. Mamoru is, as far as we know, the first being of any kind to ever show him kindness - he brings him in out of the rain and becomes his friend. So he's with Mamoru for a few days - or perhaps even only a few hours - and then he's off again, trolling the outer reaches of the universe all by his lonesome.

During that time, we can assume that he wasn't taken in by any other race. We can also assume that he probably didn't make any other friends, since Kisenian found it so easy to manipulate him by promising him Mamoru. So after all this time - roughly ten to twelve years on Earth, but who knows how long for Fiore, who has had only himself for company and was probably zipping around in warps and God only knows what else, since it takes more than twelve years just to get out of our solar system? - he returns to Earth to visit Mamoru, the one true friend he has. In the interim, he appears to have undergone some form of puberty while still retaining the logical mind of a child.

It's possible that he has confused romantic love and the love of friendship (that, at least, is the line taken in the dub), or perhaps that his actions are being taken as romantic when in fact they are a very childlike kind of love that is incongruous with his adult form (notice that after he gives up his "life energy" to Usagi, he doesn't die, but returns to his child's body?). It's also possible that after all those years, he's raised Mamoru in his mind to some higher state and idolizes him, or really does love him romantically. You could go a lot of different ways with it.

If I was Usagi/Serena, I would have to ask Mamoru/Darien if he had a gay past. LOL But seriously, I think that Fiore was just gay for Mamoru but the feelings weren't returned.

I took it to be a friendship thing. Fiore is one of those people who has always been alone and thus can't really comprehend romance or sexuality just yet. Mamoru/Darien was just the first person to show him love. He loved him as a friend and he was worried that Mamoru/Darien no longer loved him and loved Usagi/Serena instead. It's not that unheard of for friends to get slightly jealous when their best friend has a relationship. Ditto for when a child of a single parent gets jealous when the parent starts dating. They're just used to having the person all to themselves and they can't comprehend having to 'share' or 'give them up' to someone else. It's that fear of being left alone again.

I can understand where Fiore is coming from. Myself and my group of friends are...well we're very gay to put it bluntly. We're all straight guys but yeah we're very close. I can't say any of us would try to destroy the universe for each other so we'll just have to wait and see
