Lea Thompson's character ruined things

I loved this movie, with the exception of the very annoying plot involving the "French teacher". I thought the casting was wonderfully done, with one exception Lea Thompson's character. She just is NOT funny.

I think she did a good job considering what she had to work with. A lot of her dialogue was cheesy and hard to sell as an actor. Who would have done better?

She was definitely the weak link. Maybe why her career has gone nowhere (and I know she has a long list of credits, but nothing of note).

Part of it is she nailed pretty married Mrs McFly possibly. I couldn't help but think "Marty McFly's mom" everytime she was on screen...
