You play, you pay

It's impossible not to be sympathetic towards Matt Templeton in this. He is obviously the protagonist of the movie. Susan Lucci's character was so unlikable. She should've left him alone. He was a good innocent kid with a good job. He was going to school and seemed to be taking care of his mother. This kid had his whole life a head of him. Sadly, he had a very dark past. He was severely abused as a boy by his sadistic father. He had once attempted suicide before his mother stopped him.

Vivien seduced him and used him for her own fun and he had to get messed up. As I said, he already had a dark past, but she certainly didn't help. She should've left him alone. She picked the wrong guy to fool around with. You play, you pay. I don't know how the real Matt Templeton didn't have a good case for an insanity plea. I hope he is eventually paroled or gets out because I don't blame him for what happened. Matt is not the villain in this movie. Definitely not.
