Can someone explain that line?

My husband told me Mrs. Smail used fancy phrases and was real good at it and Joon didn't like it.

Agreed, kind of like when she says, "When a boat runs ashore, the sea has spoken." She may have tried to lecture Joon a few too many times on her behavior.

But why "semi-precious"? Doesn't seem to make sense to me. An attempt to add an intelligent adjective?

Loki is the Norse God of michief, but a male. I am a woman.
A manitou is a ghost like creature in some Native American tales, mostly from the Great Lakes region, also known as a shapeshifter. I come from an acting family, writers etc. and know people in the media - nobody famous, just support crew for movies and stage. I used to use make-up on my friends to get them out of school. I could make them look bruised or like death warmed over a little. Additionally, I am always changing my look. So, that is why I use this name.

that is way cool about the makeup & school & doing that for your friends. i’m not gusty enough to try to change my look. tho, i try to change what i cook! my name is from knotts berry farm. got a bunch of their tasty jams one holiday. like 10 gift things. it was 'nuts'. your name is so much better!

I haven't been to Knott's Berry Farm since I was about six years old. I just remember a hay ride, I think.

that is an AWESOME username! especially for someone who has mental problems, as i do. i would love to borrow it!

did you know there is an amusement park in California called 'Knotts Berry Farm', an older park than Disneyland. i grew up a few miles from both, and loved both.
