Question about Joon and Sam

Neither were "retarded," wilsonandrewc. Joon had an unspecified mental illness, though several hints were given as to what it was. While Sam was certainly an odd sort, he chose that behavior in order to be like his hero, Buster Keaton. In, one might argue that one or both of them were more intelligent than the "normal" character of Benny.

Almost positive Sam would've been classified as having a "learning disability". I got this impression when he was applying for a job & the person asked him to fill out an application. All he managed to write was his name, and it looked as if t was written by a 5 year old. Looks as though he may have not learned to read & write as a child....so sad!!! He makes up for his disability by impersonating someone else....it's a "deflection" technique that many people w/learning disabilities use. I know, my son has a learning disability & he is SUPER artistic & a very dramatic/emotional/sweet child!!! I speak from pure experience!!!
