Worst Movie of ALL-TIME

Hands down. I actually sat through this atrocity hoping
with every new scene that it would deliver something to take away
and feel like, "oh that's wasn't that bad". But it never happened.
Whenever conversation turns to the worst movies of all time
.this is the first title out of my mouth. And the fact that 99% of the general public has never heard of it, speaks to the fact that it was so bad,
it came and went before others had to endure it.

It requires intelligence to understand it. Sorry, please try again.

It may require intelligence to comprehend the movie, but it certainly requires horrible taste to enjoy it, much less enjoy it sufficiently to flame others for holding a different opinion.

It isn't that to enjoy this kind of movie you need a certain level of sophistication, intelligence, or education, it's that you simply need to like this kind of movie. Whether you enjoy a movie or not is halfway based on your own perceptions and feelings about it, and halfway based on how well the movie was made and the extent to which it can be enjoyed by the average individual. If you don't like it, then fine. Maybe you don't like character studies, or movies that take a while to get you involved, or movies that have a slower pace, or movies that have a thought-provoking air about them, or any of hundreds of other characteristics. And the ones I just listed were based on my own perceptions of the film, someone else may see it as a movie of soulmates working through lifetimes until they get it right, who knows. But whether you believe a movie is good or not is basically almost entirely based on how you see it.

Just for my own two cents, I loved it. I was originally watching it to see Ewan McGregor, and then saw Vincent D'Onofrio, John Tuturro, and even Robert Carlyle as well. What great surprises! I love the idea for the movie, and really enjoy movies like this. Different sort of stories, maybe those that make you think about other things differently, or at all. Most recently, 'Happy Accidents' did that for me as well. Another awesome movie.. But that's for another place..

;)

And if this post manages to, in some way, bother or offend anyone, I'm sorry. That's not how it was intended, and I tried to make it as benign as possible.

Edit: Wait, one more thing. I think someone else already addressed this, but the fact that most people haven't even heard of it doesn't really speak to how good the movie was. There are other, spectacular movies that take a very long time to become well known. Some never get to be well known, but that doesn't change the quality of the film itself. Some of the best movies can actually seem better when only a few people know about them.

I watched this movie a few years ago and I don't remember it being the worst movie of all time. It was somewhat boring at times but I still enjoyed it. I can think of many movies that are far far worse than this one is.

Hello.
Yes. "Being Human".

I am a movie lover. I embrace all genres. I will watch a foreign film with subtitles - even if there is an English language dub on the disc.

I come from a family of movie lovers. Well, my Dad likes them.

One Sunday we sat down to watch "Being Human".

It remains to this date the only film I have ever stopped watching part way through. We managed three quarters of the running time before we gave up. At times, I hoped a truck might careen through the wall of our living room and scissor me in half rather than see it through 'til the end.

Therefore, I am not qualified to judge if indeed it is the worst film ever. Who knows? Perhaps the final act is the last word in film making and turns the whole thing around?
Somehow though, I doubt it.

Having said that, it has become a fondly recalled joke in our family - and whenever any of us is faced with another lacklustre movie, or life takes a turn for the worse, we can at least be thankful - It can't get any worse than "Being Human".

This is my first Post! I love the polarity in views about this film. I don't think this film can be compared to the majority of studio films out there because it doesn't fit the recipe or formula that most viewers expect. If you look it as a study of archetypes or as an object lesson about good intentions and failure...it almost makes more sense as an unsuccessful film than it would as a blockbuster.

I loved the film because it left me disappointed as a film-goer and it was that disappointment that seemed to provide a metaphysical (magical?) connection with the protagonist(s) who continue to strive through history to get things right, but always fail. There's no Rudy here, no Good Will Hunting, no amazing success story...it's a disappointing film because it reflects realities that are all too uncomfortable for people who sometimes quietly look at their own lives (It takes guts to make a film that allows you to contemplate yourself when you're supposed to be busy watching.)

Its hard for me to judge this movie, I rented one time with my friend, we both like to talk and read philosophy, but we found this movie to be unwatchable and we stopped watching it, which i never do.

But i couldn't stop thinking about, and a few years later i rented it again, and enjoyed it. But that was a while ago and i have not seen it to rent or buy anywhere since, i dont even know if its been made for DVD. So now i'm not sure if my first impression is right, or if i like it. But I keep on thinking about it, and like the idea of it.

I think that with the first viewing i just didn't know what to expect and was unpleasantly surprised.

I'm sure there are many worse movies out there, such as the crappy rom-coms my GF makes me watch like The Lake House and Failure to Launch, and even worse Robin Williams movies like RV.

Those of you who wish to belittle this wonderful and emotional film have yet to mature past such gems as "Scary Movie" and "Not Another Teen Movie" and one of my all time favorites "Scream" 1 thru 5.

I watched this for the first time when I was around 12 years old and even then I was mesmerized by the feeling of it.

In addition it is a sad habit of the times for people to seek out movies simply for the actors in them. It is this very habit which gives us wonderful thespians like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jack Black.

Not every movie Williams has made has been worth seeing but this one shows his range and depth. This ranks in the heights of "The World According to Garp" and "What Dreams May Come".

I think you might be exaggerating.. Example : "Phat Girlz", or anything starring cedric the entertainer (i.e. johnson family vacation)

I think those might be worse.

I think you need to look at that list...

I am so very happy someone said this. I went to see this with my sister and brother-in-law (among others) at the theatre when it was first released. When the credits came up I started shouting, "They have my seven dollars and fifty cents! I paid seven dollars and fifty cents for a ticket to this abortion and they AREN'T GOING TO GIVE MY MONEY BACK! THEY HAVE MY SEVEN DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS!" Unfortunately, no one in authority would listen. And my sister was sitting there laughing so hard at the entire travesty, she was unable to join in my protest, or do anything else.

Since then, I have used this movie as the "baseline stupidest movie of all time" with regard to comparisons to any other movie. I still, after all these years, can't believe they took my seven dollars and fifty cents.

Definately the worst EVER movie. No doubt. Absolutely no redeeming features.

I'm attempting to watch this right now. I taped it 12 years ago but never watched it. It is SO BORING! It is well made and thought provoking, OK, but too sad and depressing. I love many of Robin's films and all of his stand up work. He's my favorite comedic actor, but when he does drama, it's hit or miss. He did not deserve the Oscar for Good Will Hunting. I don't like that film. He deserved it for Mrs. Doubtfire.

There are much worse films than this though, like Ishtar, Saw 2, and Robin's own horrid film Insomnia, and I paid $10.00 to see that crap in the theater!

reply

Worst film of all-time? This isn't even the worst film of Robin Williams' career. Yes, it's average but What Dreams May Come, Patch Adams, RV and License To Wed are all worse than this.

The Godfather Part II:Greatest Ever

We're gonna raise more hell than Hellraiser.

This is not the worst film ever, IMO, but, it's in the top five. Terrible, terrible, terrible. And I watch everything from Fulci films to Oscar contenders, so, there ya go. I saw this years ago and I to this day remember it's stench of awefulness. My top five worst movies...

1. Norbit
2. Epic Movie
3. Pirates of the Caribbean 3
4. Dark Reality
5. Dances with Wolves

reply

Let me correct an error in previous post. Being Human is slightly worse than Dances With Wolves, I have to say. I just couldn't get it, I know it's an Oscar winner, I just did not like it. Vehemently disliked it, actually. Cheers.

PS: There's a board on Michael Clayton discussing the most boring films. I disagree that Michael Clayton is a boring film, I think it's a very good one in fact, but, it's an interesting thread. Cheers.

Bump.

Dances with Wolves? What? Oh no you didn't! Dances with Wolves was AWESOME! We all need a dose of the lone white guy who can learn to speak wolf and Native American and piss off the imperial expansionist murderous American bastards who use personal journals as t.p. Long live Mel Gibson...I mean what's his name...Kevin Shatner...Costner...that's right.

Ansem, Kingdom Hearts, "One who knows nothing can understand nothing."

In all seriousness. I just watched this movie today for the first time. I finished it a few minutes ago. Yes, there was bits and parts that were boring and weren't as exciting, but the deeper meaning behind the story and the flow through time for this one character is quite interesting. If you look at the deeper meaning there's more to it than just random slice of life stuff happening in different time periods.

It's probably not his best but it's certainly not his worst. I've been watching all of Robin William films that I haven't seen before ever since he passed away, and I'd have to say the worst one he was in that I saw so far is The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. That movie is atrocious.
