i forget the girls name but...

I think her name in the movie was Janie, played by Catherine Reitman. Well, she's 15 years older now.....hard to believe :)

I was more bothered by her ugly attitude and the way she treated Ted when he offered to buy her a coke. "Aren't I a little tall for you? I mean, aren't you a little...short?"
What a snobby little b!tch! She could have at least just said "No, thanks" and left it at that. It's not like she was a hottie herself. It would have made more sense had she been a cutsie blond bimbo type, but she looked like the kind of girl who'd you'd expect would be flattered if ANY boy took interest in her at all. I know when I was that age, I was prettier than she was and I'd have been thrilled if a boy offered to buy me a soda, even if he was a little short. Why do so many girls have such an aversion to short guys anyway? It's so shallow! I'm 5'5"-5'6" and my husband's only 5'3". It's never bothered me one bit, nor do I think it would have if I'd have known him when we were younger. He's the sweetest guy I've ever known and he's never treated me as anything less than I deserve. We love each other to pieces and have the best life! To think of what I would have missed out on if I'd been shallow enough to care about something so petty as height.

i agree but put it into context. she's a teenager, she doesn't know any better at that age, she would be influenced by the media and her peers

Janie didn't really add much to the story, but being played by the creator's daughter is kind of cool. Kind of makes me think...were Ted and Janie meant for each other?

They could've made a cute couple, but Janie was never seen again after that one scene.

Janie. I even wrote a fanfic called The Newtons where he is heartbroken over Janie not being in his life, even though they'd still be friends someday. The song If I Give My Heart To You by Lea Salonga puts Ted to tears over it.
