Those films are much better when you are little....

I saw both film in the cinema when I was just a little boy and absolutely loved them. I remember laughing my a** off at all the various gags.
I tried watching them again as an adult to see if I still would have enjoyed them as much ... Unfortunately I didnt.
There are films I liked as a child that I still like now , like "Free Willy" "Home Alone" "My Girl" "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" ... but the Beethoven films dont make the list.
Watching it as an adult , I did not find the jokes that I found was hilarious when In was 10 years old that funny anymore.
I will always feel nostalgic about those two films and I just love the musical score by Randy Edelman but this is a franchise I will not revisit too often , unless I am around childrens ....

I feel the same way as you do.

This movie is somewhat adequate for about 70 minutes, but then it's all about poo jokes and Debi Mazar and Chris Penn falling down somewhere every 5 minutes. I guess you have to see this through the eyes of a child to enjoy the humor. Doggie cuteness can only take you so far, you need a good story to appeal to adults.

But I did enjoy this movie when I was a kid, so I guess this movie could be recommended for younger kids and hardcore dog lovers.

I'm rewatching both now just for the hell of it and realizing how effed up out really was! Between that, My Girl, and Stephen King It you'd think producers in the early 90s were on a mission to traumatized every kid in America!

When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?

I'm 33 now and it's funny the movies I watched as a kid in the 90s wouldn't have succeeded with today's kids.

yeah it's so crazy the difference in how you see things as a kid, and then as an adult.

The more personalities you have the less boring you are!

Look at this way, Bonnie Hunt is still in the game. I hope she can still come back as Alice Newton because she kicks ass.
