Is it me? Or was this film funny as fu*k???

Me, being probabley 15 when i watched this, found it highly amusing to watch Bubby (what a guy) do what he did and react the way he did....

Are me and my mate Ste, the only ones that found this film AMUSING??? it was funny as fu*k!!!!!!!!!

Happy to say that "No, you're not the only one. The movie is a big favourite of my friends and I"

reply

Me too. In fact I would go as far as to say this was one of the most compellingly sickeningly hilarious movies I have ever seen. In my top ten.
As an aside doesn't mummy have a nice set for an old bird?

Yes it was funny, but not until his dad came home(after 35 years)after that it was hilarious all the way...well almost...:)

reply

No this film is hilarious . it really is. and you dont have to be sicko to think that. it is increadibly sad too but yes its funny as *beep*

reply

Erm, no, you didn't get it.
This film is not supposed to be funny.
It's great, but not funny.

reply

No, sorry, I think YOU have it wrong. It is very dark, very bleak, but yes it is very funny - once Pop comes home, and especially once Bubby leaves the flat. All of the bits of dialogue that Bubby remembers and spouts out of context are really cleverly done.

It's not a movie without flaws - I think now some of the grossness is a little gratuitous, and the religious commentary is a bit embarrassing - but Nicholas Hope is one brave actor, and he paid the price with few job offers afterwards.

I watched the film with approx 40 guys on an oil rig in 1997, some nearly choked to death, one guy nearly sh*t himself, one guy did piss himself, but everyone laughed (except one who was extremely offended but was told to get back to his knitting) but we shall all remember the images presented forever. We were obviouly all sober but it's a better laugh if your wasted.

My world is divided into people who drop lines like:
I've got no money to buy you milk, you greedy little *beep* into conversation whenever they can and people who are freaked out when they hear them do it.

Whever said it wasn't suppossed to be funny is missing half the point.

Been long time since I saw this film. Yes, I found it hilarious. Did think that the last part of the film was a bit silly-sort of a Hollywood ending.

If you liked this film, you may like another Australian film, Sweetie. At first I thought Sweetie was one of those godawful Australian films with bad acting and script. Then the humour kicks in. Like BBB, it tapers towards the end, but is still a good film.

reply

I think the ending was just right. It was a journey toward healing and the sweet ending was the culmination of his healing process.

i laughed the most with his cat, like when he killed it and he was like WTF and slapped it.

also when hes with the band and read the newspapaer he says my mum, my pop. and the band is like omg..... then the guy says look what i found and puts the dead cat on the table, then bubby says, My Cat.

Youve got great tits Flo.

and finally, when the lady asks for a delicious highly fattening chocolate eclair please, then bubby says it exactly the same, and its funny.
