A lot of 80s flavor in this?

It's in 1993 but there's a lot of 80s in it, the score is pretty synthesizer-dominated, and there's a lot of testosterone-filled heroism, the hero has all the goods, the skills, the looks to get the girls, and the ambition. A lot of his motivation, is to prove he belongs there, and there's kind of a top-gun-like-scene in the lockerroom, where there's some bug bully who doesn't want him infringing on his territory. Also, the movie is a bit lacking in cinametography artistic-grandeur, maybe. However, I do agree with the two other people on this board that this movie rules, cause:
1. I love skiing
2. It's a riveting story

I completely agree with you as far as the 80's go. There was no date on the back of my DVD so I actually thought it was made in the 80's until I came on here to check. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

The clothes scream '80s. Finola's ski bunny outfits, the tight jeans and cowboy boots.

It's like a flashback to the Marina del Rey Red Onion circa 1986.

I'm just psyched that I found a thread on this film that is less than a day old.

@ the 80s factor:
maybe thats why i liked this movie so much ;)
just nothing can beat the 80s!!!!!!

i was pleasently surprised and didn't expect it to be that good

but unlike the tons of skiing movies that are actually from the 80s this goes a little deeper and has actually elements of drama - i thought it was a good mix of different genres

This movie did remind me of the 80s. I was waiting for TJ to request permission to buzz the tower.

Well, perhaps because the 80's only ended a few years ago in '93? Lol

I agree and I noticed that's because the first 5 years of the next decade seem real similar to the decade before it. For instance the first couple years of the 80s still felt a lot like the 70s but by the time we got to around 83/84 then that was gone. Same with the 90s. It felt like the 80s to me still until around 94/95 and even then the 90s were just as great as the 80s were. I love this movie, watch it all the time still. It made me want to get really good at skiing and I did. My friends and I got so good we'd go out and do some really dare devil type stuff over the next few years. I'm surprised we didn't die. Lol
