What are they eating?

In the scene with Dolph and whatshername, Dolphins uses an alovera tree to cool down whatshername... Or aid her sunburn, whatever ... But what is the fruit he eats after that? It looks like a kiwi fruit but where would he get one of those out in the desert? What is it?
