Shotgun

I’m not into guns, but I only see Ash loading two shells at a time into his boomstick. There are a few times where he fired more than twice before reloading. Does that make this movie unrealistic?

reply

That’s part of the dark comedy of the movie.

reply

It’s not a documentary.

Yuh huh! Was so!

I have a chainsaw just because it was so cool in this movie. I have no real need for it, other than to rev it up for the sound effect.

A double-barrel shotgun like that only takes two shells at a time. It can only fire up to twice (some double-barrels have triggers with a double pull allowing the shooter to fire one or both barrels, depending on pull) before needing to be reloaded. The error always comes with editing, as the gun can't fire more than it could in reality. In this case, it could have been an issue with editing / ignorance of the filmmaker and crew, or it could be on purpose, but again done in editing.

On a similar note, all of those 80s movies with the shooters firing hundreds of rounds without reloading have the same editing issue, as the gun needs to be reloaded between takes, but editing can cut takes together without putting a reload into the finished film.

lol I was really only making a joke asking if shooting too many bullets from a gun would make a movie with ancient Sumerian demons and time travel unrealistic. But that is some interesting info about the one or two trigger setup on the Shotgun that I never knew so I appreciate your taking the time to impart the knowledge 👍

reply

No problem, but looks I was technically wrong. There is such a thing as a double-trigger shotgun, which actually has two triggers, one for each barrel, but apparently when there is only a single trigger, only one barrel can fire at a time. My mistake!

LOL
