I'm confused..did he *SPOILER*

I watched the movie for the first time last night and I was wondering..did Axel die in the end or was he just dreaming..I know he fell asleep in the old car sales room but did he die in his sleep and become an Eskimo? Thanks for any help in advance!!

reply

I saw it for the first time last night too.
I think he just needed a rest because he was confused all the time. He definitely did not die.

reply

Thanks for the help! I wasn't quite sure if Axel died or not..it just seemed odd that he would..though I'm learning it's not a Depp movie if you're not left questioning something in the end :)

LOL he just goes to sleep, the eskimo thing is just another one of his dreams. Axel's a day dreamer. I love Arizona Dream its my fave film.

Its not a Depp movie at all its a Kusturica movie for *beep* sake. The movie is the directors vision the actors just a part of that vision nothing more, no movie is Depp's movie untill he directs one.

reply

He already has directed one - "The Brave"
Don't get so mad, they were just calling it a Depp movie coz he's the lead in it, besides Johnny Depp is what makes a movie, he's what makes people want to watch something he's starring in.

Penhall:...unlike you,whom they think is a dork!
Hanson: WHO they think is a dork!

But that is such an ignorant statement a movie is always the directors vision especialy when its made by auters like Kusturica, Depp is a great actor I'll give you that but its really deppressing when he gets credit for simply staring in the movie. Plus Arizona Dreams wasn't really made for mass consumption and Depp wasn't a huge star then either, its an art film and it never even recieved a big theatrical release in united states. Anyway I stand corrected about Depp's filmography, I haven't seen The Brave so i can't comment on it.

reply

Yes, all I simply meant by it being a "Depp movie" was the fact he was in the movie..I didn't mean that he directed it or anything else..all I meant was he was in it..

Dont you love these internet nerd jagoffs who love the smell of their own fecal material.

reply

^^ I believe you are refering to yourself, aren't you? :)

What rszrdg2 said is very, very true. Kusturica's a *beep* genius

reply

I love how you spelled it "depp-ressing"

thought I would just laugh at that

Sorry but it is a Depp Movie.
This mightve been the directors vision, but the movie wouldve been in the discount bin & long forgotten, if not for Johnny---if ever released at all.

Johnny already had fame from Edward Scissorhands, and 21 Jump Street before this movie . Not everyone jumped on the fanwagon with POTC. Some of us were on the mothership . We all made Johnny a star because he is one.
He's an incredible talent.

reply

So well said. Johnny has done so many movies and had so many great roles. All these little teeny boppers jumped on his case as soon as 'POTC' came out. Granted, it's a good movie and no one could have done the role of Jack Sparrow better than Johnny, a lot of people just became fans of his after the movie became big, or because he was 'Hot' in the role of Jack. They aren't actually fans of his work, but rather fans of his looks. You can't really be a fan of an actor/actress just because you loved them in one role that they portrayed. You have to respect that person's body of work and appreciate them for the range that they have. I've been a fan of Johnny's since I saw him in 'Edward Scissorhands' when I was 4 years old. I didn't even know who he was, but I knew, even as a kid, that the guy could definitely act...

reply

I discovered him in POTC, but since then I have seen every one of his movies, except for Before Night Falls, wich I can't find anywhere, but I'm gonna order it from England soon. Anyhow, I loved his performance in every one of them, he is the most talented actor I have ever seen. Ofcourse you can't deny he is also the most beautiful man on earth, but I think his talents are so much more important. I don't think I'm not an actual fan just because POTC was the first movie I saw with him.

Kusturica is probably way better known by Europeans than by Americans.

I'm not the kind of person who pays much attention to directors, but I do have a few favourites, and Kusturica is one of them. You can COUNT on his movies to be great - at least if you like your movies more or less wacky. "Underground" (which is WAY more wacky than this one; almost surrealistic) is one of my all time favourites. If you haven't seen it, do.

Agreed this film is very much the directors film, but saying it's a Depp film isn't far off, too.

He's been known for his slightly off beat film choices. Benny and Joon, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Ed Wood, Dead Man all spring to mind for me. He jumped at the chance to work with underground icon John Waters on Cry-Baby. Also Tim Burton is quite a popular yet, hmm, unique (?) director.

Depp enjoys making films with a difference, and it shows in his filmography.

...the guy in the $600 banana suit - COME ON!

reply

Well I became a fan after POTC, and not just because he's good looking, he is a great actor. I'm 18 now, and I've seen almost all of his films, apart from two or three which I need to get hold of. I've also watched 4 series of Jump Street, not just because he looks great but because everything he's in is amazing!

I watched Arizona Dream the other night, and it was amazing. Not just because of Depp, but the whole film. And Grace, she was hillarious, of course she had her problems....

Marvin: You William Blake?
William Blake: Yes, I am. Do you know my poetry?

reply

Maybe he was asleep through the whole film, and the whole movie is a dream.
