best scene?

what is the scene that relly got into your soul, i mean, the whole movie is realy well done and the perfomances are the greatest. but, what is the best scene? i like when the four characters talk about how they want to die...thats sad and cool....i'm 16..
come on...let me know

I like the scene with pink Cadillacs along the road,
the one in which Axel learns to say 'hello',
the one when Axel&Paul drive in the car,
the one when Elaine tests her plane, Paul acts as though he's in that movie ('North by Northwest') and Grace suggests kissing Axel...
But the dinner scene i like best, esp. after Grace goes crazy and wants to hang herself. It all becomes so messed up, everyone behaves according to his obsession, they don't listen to each other.. but it's mastered really well, all this chaos, it's just loads of fun.. -- and still you don't laugh. Brilliant scene.

:upd: AAh, I forgot. The most touching scene for me was the one at the end of the movie, when Axel walks through deserted car salon and talks to himself. His phrase "And still i like living.." simply entranced me

I love most the scene when Grace kills herself, it's very emotional.

The best scene is when Jerry Lewis and Faye Dunaway argue about her messing with a younger man. Jerry compares her to an old cadillac.

Hard to pick only one, but if I have to I'll go for the movie theater scene, where they watch Raging Bull... I adore the moment when Paul Leger (Vincent Gallo) says: "Would you touch *beep* Johnny Depp's face?" and later his De Niro/Pesci impersonation is stunning.

The flying table scene. And when Axel kissed Grace on the roof. And when he was chasing and trying to hit Paul with a bag. And the very best for me is Grace playing silly melodies with that nasty expression on her face and a cigarette in her mouth.

The best scene (not only in this movie, but in ANY movie) has to be the dinner scene. It's just so crazy and surreal, with the Papua New Guinea, and the turtle and Vincent Gallo reciting the Wizard of Oz and Lili Taylor's suicide attempt! It's amazing. I'm not really sure I would recommend the movie as a whole, but this scene is perfection!

reply

I agree with your scene selection. The best scene in this movie and of all the movies I have ever seen is the dinner scene. Everything about it is simply amazing. The circle shot around the table, Grace's attempted suicide, the behaviors of all the characters, and the dialogue...it is just so brilliant. I absolutely love it, definitely my favorite part of the movie. Also this is my favorite movie of all-time, I don't know if anyone agrees. Though I haven't seen The Godfather yet. But anyway, this movie is simply amazing. I love every single second of it.

Here's another vote for the dinner scene. What does it for me is that crazy music playing in the background. The whole scene builds to a hilarious climax when Paul gets up & smacks his head on the ceiling fan and breaks into his "cowardly lion" impression. I remember in the theater I was howling like a hyena.

My 2nd favourite is the Russian roulette scene. I think that's the most tense R.R. scene in history, followed closely be The Deer Hunter.

And lastly, who can forget Paul's North By Northwest scene. Gawd, Hitchcock is utterly ruined for me! LOOL

P.S. hilary, this film beats The Godfather hands down. If you like this quirky style, I'd suggest you rent Buffalo '66. It's a film written, directed and starring Vincent Gallo (Paul Leger). There's a hilarious dinner scene in that one, too.

The best scene was the end credits.

Ohhhh, the dinner scene IS one of the best scenes in any movie ever. I love that the fan is so low and spinning so fast, and the turtle keeps scrambling by. All the while the Paupa New Guinea discussion is going on and the wild music that's way too loud in the background. A masterpiece that is both comedic and melancholy.

Thanks so much for the recommendation, it looks great. Adding it to my list (of movies to see, it's insanely long) right now.

I got a long list of "movies to see" too!!!, but I've realised that some of them ...i'll never watch them, because it's almost impossible to find a place where to rent them or buy them......maybe if you know a GOOD - SAFE web site where to download movies....I'd aprecciate it too much.

thanks...peace

mspaintnerd.com is a good website to stream movies from. It's free and fast. They are generally older movies (pre - 1980) that are listed in public domain. But I've watched some really cool films on there.

This movie was outstanding. One of THE great ones for sure.
My favorite scene might actually be the one where they take turns explaining how they would die or what could lie next.

Or when Axel and Elaine try out the flying machine and it takes flight the first time. It works for a little and is beautiful!, then the steering wheel breaks off and Elaine holds it up to her face as they plummet and crash into a lone tree. hahahahaahahhha. priceless.

There are so many great moments - 10/10. I'd probably also give True Romance a 10 out of 10.

My favorite scene in the entire movie is when Axel goes to Elaine's after Leo dies, and he hasn't spoken to her in days, and they get in a desperate argument and fight where they're both trying to hold onto the relationship. He hits her and then holds her, and wow, it was so well done.

Also, the dinner scene where Grace tries to kill herself was amazing.

The scenes that are really emotional i think are where they are talking about how they want to die, also when Leo dies and when Grace kills herself

I agree the dinner scene is great, but for me that reenactment of the "North By Northwest" scene by Vincent Gallo's character and the reaction of the audience was just hilarious, one of my favorites for sure.

The roof scene...life is beautiful. it's the only "normal" scene in the movie, i mean they are so real...
The suicide scene - the "successful" one, and when she's preparing - heartbreaking...

The dinner scene... when Grace kills herself... the Russian Roulette scene--talk about tense.
