The anonymity and shame that society put upon gay men really made the crisis worse because not knowing the identity of ones partner made tracing the disease that much more difficult. Being a gay man and having sexual desires that society deemed wrong or shameful necessarily made gay men present themselves anonymously to each other because of the stigma and the fact that being gay could ruin one's career. This is why LGBT visibility, acceptance, and anti-job discrimination legislation are so important. The shame and stigma brought on by heterosexist society as much as anything else prevented AIDS from being contained and made the epidemic so much worse.

At least there will be plenty implied.

Well, I don't think that's quite true. There was noting in the late 1970s preventing gay men in NYC and SF from having personal, monogamous relationships. In fact, it was the openness about homosexuality that led the the existence of the baths and other places where frequent anonymous one-time sex proliferated. Read Dancer from the Dance, the wonderful novel by Andrew Holleran published in 1979.

The primary compassion went to those who did nothing but still got the virus..babies born from mothers who had it, cheating spouses, hemophiliacs. The rest of the recipients of the virus got it due to their own lifestyle choices. This is not to say their illnesses weren't sad.... but giving the same amount of compassion to them as compared to an innocent person is ludicrous. LGBT acceptance is a total sham and people shouldn't have to lower their standards so a few defects can feel somewhat justified in how they live.

Going for the personal attack, eh? Makes sense since your defect has already compromised your way of life and you have little recourse on the issues. Most of you live shorter lives, more abusive relationships, more drugs, higher suicide rates, lower self- esteem, more sickness, more mental problems, never having a real marriage..only pretend ones, etc.

Fortunately for you, there are a lot of people with lower standards whom you can straddle in the short and inconsequential time you have. The world will be a lot better later this century when the bulk of Europe is overrun with Muslims and the brief tolerance of defective lifestyles is self-corrected :)

Says the one who is part of a shrinking minority in regards to justifying any of the LGBT defects. Your only gains are in declining regions and are both regional and temporary. i don't even know what you are rambling on about, that looks like a bunch of right wing meme gobbledygook. the election has nothing at all to do with anything being discussed here and the acceptance of gays remains at an alltime high for the u.s. and in many other nations. a republican administration is not going to change that. if it ever does, hey, i'll come back here and we can have a talk about it again. if anything, the people of north carolina booting out their grandstanding governor who chose to use trans individuals for political gains, while still supporting trump shows everything will not be changing the way you want it to. for whatever reason. between the two of us, you will still be needing your anonymous safespace to vent opinions like yours. you sure aren't putting your real name behind them, nor will you ever.

Perhaps you should take a look at the bigger picture as opposed to a temporary regional shift. Winning a battle at the cost of losing the war is hardly something to look favorably upon.

Yes..and no. The US and MUCH of the west have grown more accepting of homosexuality while India, China, Pakistan, Russia, and even pockets of eastern Europe have gone in the opposite direction. This has ranged from acknowledging only true marriage, banning public displays (or in any media forms), to outright increased violence. Couple that with the influence of the middle east and you really only have a sizable portion of the west. But even that however...(as I said)...is fleeting. And its just the newer generation that is more accepting. They are half illegitimate, have a lower standard of living, lower critical thinking skills, more self entitled, more dependent, record obesity, record dependence, etc. So it only makes sense their social standards would be equally inferior.

A birth rate for a culture/society to sustain itself is 2.1. No nation ever recovered once their birth rate dropped below 1.7. And below 1.3.... it is mathematically impossible. And the average birth rate of Caucasians in the EU who are really the only ones who pretend thers nothing wrong with homosexuality?... 1.295 :). Basically Europe's declining social and fiscal standards will be short-lived. As I've stated, every projection shows Muslims being the majority there before the end of the century. History lesson; even among the most tolerant Muslim nations, homosexuality is treated like the worst of plagues..makes traditional US seem like decaf. This is the future of Europe and the world :). This is also a growing trend in Canada so basically yes....you might have the US while it remains...little more. So.. you win a small temporary battle but lose the war. I can live with that :)

the only thing you could (or should) be taking is some properly prescribed meds, rather than trying to seek catharsis on message boards. nothing is going to go the way you see it based on your various prejudices in your lifetime at least. every day, week, month, year that ticks away is proof of that. have a nice day!

Do you enjoy having anal sex with a woman? Do you like it when that woman gives you oral pleasure?

If the answer is yes, then you are no different then the men who have sex with each other. NO DIFFERENT. They are the same exact acts, with the same exact risks, and the exact same feelings of pleasure as a result of the acts themselves. There is no reason to perform these acts other than for pleasure, and just because it's two men doing it changes NOTHING.

It would be easier for you, wouldn't it, if it was so simple to just label the people you don't like and ship them far away from you where you don't have to be frightened any more by these scary people who you've dreamed up to be some kind of actual threat to you, when all they want is for you to leave them alone. They're not bothering you. Why are you bothering them? Don't you have anything better to do, then to hurt people? Take up a hobby? Play some video games? Read a book about something you enjoy, such as MEIN KAMPF or something?

Or are you simply angry at them, because you yourself have feelings like they do, and you just can't bring yourself to be open and honest with yourself, because you were brought up to be the hateful person that you are?

Disagree Ryan White's first school spat on him (figuratively) when he attempted to go back. He had to move to another town in Indiana and enroll there. Yes Reagan etc embraced him and they did not even invite their personal friend Rock Hudson to the White House when he was dying of AIDS, despite having known him MUCH longer. But he got teased too.
