Bradley is a d00shbag.

Whats up with them changing his name to Joe to try and trick us into thinking he is Joe Armstrong the real American Ninja. 2 Thumbs down, Bradley is a jerk for even accepting his role in this Joe-ploitation flick.

The thing that gets me is David bradley was in parts 3 & 4 and he was called Sean davidson,in this he's called Joe???

Wasn't this movie called American Samurai or something? Didn't they just change the name to American NINJA to milk the franchise?

reply

American Samurai's a different film. Mark Dacascos is the villain in that, opposite David Bradley. This one just uses the American Ninja name, rather than it being a real sequel.

I could have sworn that while growing up I constantly saw the video cover in video stores and its name then was American Samurai, not American Ninja 5. I actually recall watching an American Ninja 5 in the cinemas at some point. I think the movie was actually filmed here in South Africa and starred a South African actor. There was a scene I recall with the hero (dressed in white) in some kind of roller skating rink. All the bad ninjas had blades attached to their roller blades. The main bad guy had the lights turned off, but, predictable, when the lights came on again the bad ninjas were lying on the ground with no sight of the hero.

They could well have called it that. I've seen many films use different titles in different countries. As for South Africans and roller blades, I don't remember that from American Ninja V. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, as it's YEARS since I saw it, but I don't recall anything like that. The only South African actor I can think of is Arnold Vosloo, which doesn't help here.

According to IMDb, American Samurai was released in some places as Ninja: American Samurai.

Read the trivia geniuses, it says this is not an American Ninja sequel but the name was changed to that at the last minute for american distribution. It has nothing to do with American Ninja and David Bradley thought he was doing a film away from the series.

EXACTLY.
It pisses me off so much people insulting David Bradley for starring in these movies, he´s no better or worse than all the rest of the B-movie genre stars. What´s more, I think he acted even better than a lot of so named "actors" whose movies are released in cinemas, which is even more shameful.
